Jasmin 0 #1 June 11, 2002 First let me state I'm talking about skydiving NOT skydivers, thanks!Let, nomad, balloon, skyvan, king air, otter, beaver, chopper, caravan etcWhat does it for you?Me, I like the skyvan for novelty and the let for speed, but give me a ride to height in a bell jet/long-ranger anyday(chopper)! prepheckt 0 #2 June 11, 2002 I like the Skyvan for the rear exit, King Air for HALO jumps, and hopefully, I'll get to try a C-130. Blue ones
freefallin14 0 #3 June 11, 2002 Mullins king air rocks for time to altitude, casas are always nice, but give me a Pitts S-2B (or C) any day of the week.Bret
dove 0 #4 June 11, 2002 Have never tried but am badly craving to jump the biplane, chopper and balloon. Otherwise.... any "SUPER" jump plane! "Are we there yet?!"dove
billo 0 #5 June 11, 2002 i jumped a beaver for my 68 and 69th jumps fav turbine has to be the otter and fav prop is our posh 206. i jumped the most uncomfortable king air a couple weeks ago! i think i still have bruises on my butt from the seat belt attachment points!b
Jasmin 0 #6 June 11, 2002 Hell yes!I miss the Thai boogies, they were the bomb! 5 hercy-birds and whatever else we wanted! When is the next herc boogie?
iynx 0 #7 June 11, 2002 Of all of the three planes I've jumped from, I'd have to go with the ever-popular Twin Otter. I've also jumped from a Beach99 and a Cessna 182.Good judgement comes from experience, and experience?- well, that comes from poor judgement.
n2skdvn 0 #8 June 11, 2002 first on the list hot air ballons!!! second the boing 727then the bell 412(thanks rod tinny!!!)biplane, goto the wffc and take your pick!!!!Whenever I feel blue, I start breathing againclick me
PhreeZone 20 #9 June 11, 2002 Give me a Casa or a West wind and I'm happy... the 182 pisses me off some times...and the otter... its ok.. but I like the Westwind better for the side exit.If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will.... Vallerina 2 #10 June 11, 2002 Quotefirst on the list hot air ballons!!! I completely agree! So peaceful and quiet.... But, my second favorite is Mullins's King Air! Just a week and a half and I get to jump it again!I spent four years prostrate to the higher mind; got my paper, and I was free
FallinWoman 1 #11 June 11, 2002 To quote my friend Jeremy, "I will jump anything that can get me up."I haven't tried that many planes, but I love the door of the otter, and i truly enjoy my occasional hop and pop from the good old C-182.....it is like coming home.....annecrabs are only bad when you go down on someone and get them in your eyelashes-sunshine
ChrisDykstra 0 #12 June 11, 2002 jas, you're lucky you made it clear that we're talking about planes here....otherwise i'm sure you know my answer.i've only jumped from a skyvan and an otter, still waiting for someone to fire up the chopper and offer hop and pops...wishful thinking i am sure.i love the skyvan for the tailgate exits, especially standing near the cockpit making a run for it.....plus you get a great view out the back door. on the other hand the otter is good to get to height relatively fast but it gets a little chilly when the snake isn't put in the door....wouldn't mind giving a hercules a go either...who knows, when the RAAF in australia finally gets rid of the old Caribou's we might be able to chuck in a few bucks and buy it.....yeah right! now that would make for loads of fun and it can run from short fields too.... bbarnhouse 0 #13 June 11, 2002 I have jumped the from the following: Balloon,182,porter,king air, skyvan, casa, caravan, otter but my favorite.........was the DC-3. Oh ya gotta luv the adventure............."Cheeky lil' thing aren't ya?" sez Ash
AndyMan 7 #14 June 11, 2002 Quotethe otter... its ok.. but I like the Westwind better for the side exit.Eric, you simply MUST explain this one. You prefer the westwind over the otter because of the side exit?!?!?!?Me, I've jumped The Pitts Special, c-182, c-206, Bell 412, twin bonanza, Caravan, King Air, Otter, Skyvan, and Casa. mffi422 0 #15 June 11, 2002 I have close to a 1,000 out of a Casa 212. That bird is AWESOME in my book. Also love a 182 for AFF!Work hard...Play harder!Dino
Lindsey 0 #16 June 11, 2002 Well, I've only jumped out of a 182, 205, Caravan, Porter, Beech 99, Otter, CASA, little bitty helicopter, 727, Connie, Queen Air. For normal jumping, I think I like the Caravan because it climbs pretty good and there's not all that prop blast that you get with the Otter.......though that tail thing is a little bit bothersome now that I've seen someone come within a couple inches of the horizontal stabilizer. Otherwise, I really liked jumping out of the little bitty helicopter at Z-Hills. Can't wait to get a balloon jump at Skyfest.==B-DLindseyYa' know Smack-water Jack he bought a shotgun'cause he was in the mood for a little con-fron-ta-tion
Nick 0 #17 June 11, 2002 So far I've only done a Casa, Otter, Beaver, Let, Islander. The tail door of the Casa is good for exits, the Beaver is excellent for a fast ride to altitude.Nick
drenaline 0 #18 June 11, 2002 Only jumped CASA, Cessna 172 and Seneca.CASA is great, but cessna is the best, very comfy seats, and the strut is awsome."Life is full of danger, so why be afraid?"drenaline
jtval 0 #19 June 11, 2002 100% honesty...I love to jump form whatever gets me high. I have no qualms going to a cessna dz even after I've been to otter, proters and deland where they have everything. I was just as comfortable (not neccessarily physically) in the cessna as I was the skyvan. I get a thrill EVERYTIME....if you get my high I'll love ya for eternity (or at least until i get high with someone else) Have fun, Live free, SKYDIVE!!http://community.webshots.com/user/jtval100
Remster 30 #20 June 11, 2002 In kind of an order (I posted a similar list a few weeks back, and iT will probably differ... lol)AN 72C 130CasaTwin OtterThat big choper they use at Quincy SkyvanLet 410King AirCaravan (my pop top doent like that plane... lol)180/182The 727 and biplane, I wont put in the list as they really are pure novelty...I'm sure a ballon would be up the list, but thats 1 aircraft I still havent done that I really really wanna do.... (along with the BIG russian helicopter they were flying at Vichy a few years back.... drooooool)RemsterMuff
slotperfect 7 #21 June 11, 2002 my fave of all times was exiting the bomb bay of a B-17 (the one they used to film the movie "Memphis Belle." It was one for the history books. My favorite otherwise is anything with a ramp exit. Casa's are very versatile and are all over the place. Otters are even more all over the place, and are great because they are configured so well for floaters.Respectfully,SP
flyhi 24 #22 June 11, 2002 In order; Skyvan, Casa, Koala, Huey, Otter. Have also jumped and enjoyed Beech 99, Caravan, DC-3, King Air, Twin Beech, C-182.Jumped a 402 because it was there. Won't do that again. flyhi
Jasmin 0 #23 June 11, 2002 Yeah Chris, I know.....If we do some organising and butt-kissing I'm sure we can get Phil to fire up the jet-ranger, as long as there are enough people. As for my lust list:*C-130 Hercy-bird*Balloons (this and chopper is closest you'll get to the feeling of a BASE jump [ie "dead" air and no forward motion])*Choppers (esp love Bell's efforts)*Skyvan (exits) and Let (speed and comfy)*Otter (my first jump-plane)*A Beaver and a Cresco (very speedy and a nice exit without prop wash)*Nomad (noisy and slowish but still pretty cool)*C-182 (Coooooooooooold)*Caravan (fatality at Nagambie, Aust. where skydiver ripped the tail OFF the plane, not good...)LAST: Scare-a-commando AKA Aero-commander (Noisy and the prop is WAY TOO CLOSE.....jitters). I said I wouldn't jump it, couldn't get on another load for my ex's farewell jump. Landed and vowed NEVER will i EVER jump it again.....That's all I can think of off the top of my head..... PhreeZone 20 #24 June 11, 2002 >You prefer the westwind over the otter because of the side exit? The door is just as big, it climbs at about 1200 feet a minute, it holds less people so its better to get the vibe thing in the plane and there are not many of them out there so its kinda a different thing to put in your log book... plus they are really quiet too.If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will.... freeflir29 0 #25 June 11, 2002 Nothing more comfy for the ride up than a Casa. Lots of room. Climbs pretty fast and the tail gate is the poop of course. Only thing better would be a C-130,141,5,17 but as a civilian skydiver you won't see those type of planes too often. "Here I come to save the BOOBIES!"
