Weekend numbers

Recommended Posts

1 (number of times I got peed on by two boys):15:1
I had a three day weekend at the dropzone, I made 15 jumps, hit jump number 230 and tipped over 3 hours of freefall time, saw Crystal do her first tandem(a girl I used to babysit.. that I haven't seen in 15 years), did my first CReW, survived Tim AND Jeffs 1st pack jobs, made it on Jeff's first license jump, had a kick ass time saturday nite, and ended sunday with a sunset load hop n pop, life is good, it is really really good.
Never said better than "peace, love & soul.."...
good skydives, good friends and good beer.. thats what its all about.

12 (number of hours stuck working on Saturday):7:0
Saturday sucked, but what a great Sunday. Man, I love this stuff. And it's gorgeous out again today and I'm here at work when I'd rather be adding to that middle number. Hmmm, maybe I need to leave early today.

Number of 'splash downs' witnessed 8:12:0
Standing water/mud in the landing area - why are people drawn to it? Made for some laughs though. We had a nice collection of jumpsuits/socks/canopies hung up to dry. The best was the downwind landing that turned into a head first slide through the mud. I managed to stay clean and dry, except for the first load Saturday where I had to land in a plowed, muddy field. Thankfully I stayed on my feet, but my shoes got covered - I almost lost one in the mud trying to walk out of the field!
Awesome weekend of jumping. Hit 250 mph (not ft/sec) SAS yesterday. Mental note: tighten goggles down more before you do that.
We also decided to change the count on one jump. It went "ready! set! bye bye!" ... as we all stood on the ramp waving at the one guy who left. The rest of the plane got a good laugh (of course, most of them knew what we had planned), and we left shortly after and chased him down.
I'm broke, sore, tired, and little sunburnt.... good weekend :D

Wildblue, I hear ya! Here is what happened to me this weekend:

You wear your goggles over the outside of your helmet? Why?
I'm glad I don't wear contacts, they would have been gone! I just grabbed my goggles and held them to my face (hey, it was a race, I didn't want to slow down) until it was time to belly out :D

Didn't get to do beach jumps, but I did have 3 nice jumps at the dz on Sunday. After a horrible week last week, it was nice to get some altitude again. Funny how a little adrenaline rush can cheer one right up!

You wear your goggles over the outside of your helmet? Why?

I've been doing it for awhile. It came out of a discussion I had with Chuck (Skymonkeyone) awhile ago. Before that, I wore them underneath the helmet. I'd have to hold them off my face for the last couple minutes before I exited or they'd fog up completely. It got really annoying.
I bought the kind that have the edge made out of tube stoe material. I can put my helmet on and the goggles can rest just above my eyes, without sliding off. Right before exit, I just pull them down over my eyes.
For RW, and bellyflying in general, it works really well. I just hadn't considered the added speed and change of body position relative to the wind that I'd experience in a sitfly, which was my mistake.
So far, I've had a contact come off and stick on the inside of the goggles twice now. After landing with greatly reduced depth perception, I've just rehydrated the lenses and stuck them back in.

I wear my goggles under my helmet, but one time during a 4 way, the strap slid up and forward. Just as we were turning the 4th point, I caught my goggles as they were coming off my head, slid them up my arm, waved, and left. I had my eyes shut as tight as possible cuz if I lost my contacts I would be guarenteed NOT to find the dropzone. I can't see a foot in front of my face. luckily, this story is uneventful and I still had my contacts. I do wear my goggles much tighter now...

Number of times Kenny the pilot threatened to toss me out of the plane if I had a hayfever attack going up to altitude 1:0:0
I hate hayfever! Not that I could’ve jumped otherwise. Students were grounded because of wicked uppers. Still a great day to hang out at the dz asking gear questions.
Jessica… you go girl!
Gale, congratulations!

83.3 (speed at which the police plane clocked me on my way to Vandalia): 8: 2
Slow weekend. Got 5 in on friday at hinckley, including a kickass 14 way tracking dive. yesterday the threat of rain made it so that we only got 3 king air loads at archway, but i got my freefly suit (after only 4 weeks!!) and i got to play with it...it is a bit different having all that drag on my arms while headdown but it flies great and the change in fall rate you can do when sitflying is freaking cool. 2 for first ticket, and first jumpsuit.

Humps, jumps, beer owed right?
0:15:0
Had a wild weekend, boogied long and smiled large, with Rachill and her long ass-hair, I'll post the snaps very soon....Took Pop for his first rodeo which I filmed from my wrist mount, did a ten ton two way with Big Tim from Spaceland, filmed some cool freefly, went low, let the girls get away from me, did some cool flying with my soul brother Zennie, and fixed up a free loan canopy for the Slappie man.
Drank way too much beer (I didn't think it possible), fell asleep on the couch watching footage on my camera, and slept in for work this morning.......But what the hell, I smiled most of the weekend, made a few others smile, the energy crisis can wait for me! ;)

2 AFF
1 2way sit fly with 3 good solid knee docks
1 sweet demo into the Indy Cart races at Laguna Seca
I had a bad opening yesterday morning were the bag came out of my container with one line twist above my head. As the canopy slammed open the risers kinda squeezed my head and scraped up my face. I had a horendous headache the whole day. My head still hurts right now..........:(

No hard helmet? For shame!!!!

Seriously I need to think about this. There is nothing I love more than the feel of the wind through my hair and face. I did a level II AFF with just my goggles. I wore my frap the rest of the day and am thinking about ordering a Hurricane today. I was almost knocked out on the opening.

Well if it's dark during the afternoon, what ever will we do to amuse ourselves since we can't skydive? ;)
