Someone here has a virus...

Recommended Posts

Someone here has the Klez.H virus. I just got it twice - once it looked like it came from skymedic, the other one looked like it came from skydekker
If you were checking your email on 6/9 9:11 pm or around midnight that same day, it's probably you.
This virus "spoofs" the "From" address by finding email addresses on your system, usually in your address book
Read about Klez and how to fix yourself here

Ok - update. After comparing notes - it would appear that the infected party has medic, sunshine, me, phree, scottbre and skydekker on their MSN IM list. They also have the address ssinfo@purdue.edu in their computer somewhere... ahem... who do we know that would have that?!

lol, I guess next time I should read the whole thread before calling our corporate IT Vice-President........
At least I do not have the virus....Though it was kinda odd to get emails from Skymedic and Scottbre regarding new websites etc etc. But nothing would open up in the hotmail windows.......

The infected party MIGHT be known as ROBLONG1, and gets his Internet access from Prodigy.
Hmm.... splitrock.net.... isn't that Val? Val? Have you been practicing unsafe internet again?

I am so sorry guys! I usually try to keep my virus software updated but have been slacking on it since they asked me for more money. Shame on me. I learned my lesson, and I hope you can all forgive me!

Money... .You must be using Norton? This is a little bit of a pain but you CAN still download Virus Defs from www.sarc.com regardless of your subscription status. IF it complains about bewing expired, change the date on your computer back one year, then install...
McAfee JUST came out with the liveupdate feature a few months ago...

Ah, how interesting. That probably explains why I got an email "from" Andyman in my hotmail account, which I thought was particularly odd, since I don't give out that address to people. MSN = Hotmail.com = Microsoft = suck
Great, so Val has VD (Virtual Disease) :D
