lummy 4 #4 June 5, 2002 Wait a minute.... I thought they weren't going to build on the site but instead make it into a memorial park...... Are they at least going to put a headstone on the grave?Oh NEVER MIND... This guy is smoking the wacky weed or somethin.. Did anyone readt the Security section?Quote Our Cyber City will have a State of the Art External Security System which at this stage evolves around "Sound Waves" which has the capacity at a specific frequency to repel flying objects up to a five mile circumference. One shot... Muenkel 0 #5 June 5, 2002 Actually they are going to redevelop the site. There are a few reasons for this: Fiscally, the real estate there is just too valuable and the city wants the revenue. Another reason would be to show the world that the terrorists did not win, that America can rebuild and go on. They will incorporate a memorial on the site. It definitely will not be forgotten...hopefully.In regard to those designs, I think they are beautiful, but can they really get tenants to take space on those upper floors?"JANE, HOW DO YOU STOP THIS CRAZY THING?"Chris
skydiverbrian 0 #6 June 5, 2002 Well, unless they're REALLY REALLY sure about the sound wave thing, I'd suggest they don't build it out of glass. Work sucks. Let's skydive!

gale 0 #9 June 5, 2002 Well, I think a lot of the ideas are good ones (atriums, trees for each victim, some of the other amenities) but I don't really think it's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. If it's going to be so prolific in the cityscape more designs should be considered I think.Oh, and I've never heard about the sound-wave thing. Sounds like some wishful thinking to me. But I'm not a physicist, so what do I know.PS if you build a better mouse trap someone will just build a better mouse. There are risks, there always will be.Gale Isn't life the strangest thing you've ever seen?
Levin 0 #10 June 5, 2002 i am concerned with how far the upper wrap around thing extends from the building. if the tubes are 1449 feet, then i would guess that the distance between the top of the tube and the upper horizontal wrap thing would be about 300 feet. it's hard to tell how far the wrap around sticks out. my concern is if that is enough time to clear it. if not then that makes max altitude about 1100 feet. so from the old design to this design we would probably be coming down a bit. i would have to vote no on this one.
Levin 0 #11 June 5, 2002 i just reallized that the tube tops are only 1237.5 feet and it's the pyramid top that is 1449'. now i vote hell no

wildblue 7 #13 June 5, 2002 What? You think with the bio-optic thingers and the 5 mile sound wave repulsators and the bio-mechanical security super-woozies - you think you'll be able to BASE off it??If if you did, the sound wave repulsatron would throw you 5 miles.oh... wait... SWEET! Let's see... if you hit it just right (assuming it wouldn't fry your brain or make you sterile) maybe it would throw you to 10k or 12k feet, and about 2 miles away. Rock! I can see it now, you launch a 4-way off the tower, get some points on the way up AND the way back down!! Those sub-terminal points at the top of the arc are gonna be tricky though...Dogs don't know it's not bacon!
nacmacfeegle 0 #14 June 5, 2002 "Our Cyber City will have a State of the Art External Security System which at this stage evolves around "Sound Waves" which has the capacity at a specific frequency to repel flying objects up to a five mile circumference"Hmmmm, methinks flim flam....A 5 mile circumference = an effective range of 0.8 miles. Talk about wait till you see the whites of their eyes!Thats ten seconds from impact at say 300mph, which is quite slow for a large jet. You'd better hit it first time....and vapourise it too, cos that shit will have momentum.Also.....once you've hit said bogie, where's the debris gonna land?Naw, sonic ray beam my lardy ass, Give me a kryptonite death ray anyday.......However if it works do you think the 'repulsatron' could be used by freefliers to train in? PhillyKev 0 #15 June 5, 2002 Nice catch....I was still wondering how the airports and heliports would stay in business with the "We will seek support from the political system to bring about an edict that a "Five Mile No Fly Zone" area is put into effect around the island of Manhattan."Notice this company is based in the Bahamas.
