mountainman 0 #1 June 5, 2002 jump 56exit altitude: 2400dpl alti: 1900freefall: 8 secondsThis was from my crosscountry. Do you think that it counted me diving under canopy as my freefall and then when I stopped that was deployment? I deployed right when I exited the aircraft at about 13k.Damn! What is the vertical descent that "activates" the freefall? Thanks!***Curiosity gets the best of me.***JumpinDuo.com...news, pictures, skydiving and links. mountainman 0 #3 June 5, 2002 Ha! Did you read the actual sentances that I wrote? I got out and deployed at 13k.JumpinDuo.com...news, pictures, skydiving and links.
Sebazz1 2 #4 June 5, 2002 I did read it. What is up with the Pro Track? Why does it not say 13K as the exit altitude? Or did it log multiple jumps every time you made a turn then planed out?Sebazz........
wildblue 7 #5 June 5, 2002 I'm guessing he deployed right out the door almost... you actually have to be in freefall for a few seconds before it says "Oh, I'm in freefall"Were you spiralling around 2400 ft?Dogs don't know it's not bacon!
SkydiveMonkey 0 #6 June 5, 2002 You got out at 13k and started the freefall at 2400? You took a long time to chop that line over mate !! Let's go play chicken with a planet !!
mjasantos 0 #7 June 5, 2002 Hi,If the logbook in the Pro-Track doesn't correspond to your jump, the best would be to contact Larsen & Brusgaard regarding this matter. Explain in detail the all situation... they might ask you to send them that unit by exchange (for free) with a new one from them. The contacts are:dytter@pip.dknet.dkPhone: +46 40 44 05Fax: +46 75 77 22Mosevej 34070 Kirke Hyllinge, DenmarkBlue Skies! wildblue 7 #8 June 5, 2002 mjasantos -Don't you have to be in freefall for 4 seconds before it starts recording? I don't think his unit is defectiveDogs don't know it's not bacon!
GrumpySmurf 0 #9 June 5, 2002 Yeah looks like you weren't in freefall long enough for it to trigger the 13K exit, but probably did a hard enough spiral from 2,400 to 1,900 to make it think you had exited an aircraft at that point? It's common for a ProTrack to fail to register Hop-N-Pops, since they haven't remained in free fall long enough. My guess is that odds are that you 'tricked' it into thinking that you rode the plane up to 13K then 'rode' it back down to 2,400 before exiting and deploying at 1,900? Remember, all it can use to calculate exit and deployment altitudes is relative rate of change in barometeric pressure, so it can be tricked in false readings. mnischalke 0 #10 June 5, 2002 You are correct. It does need a delay (7 seconds as I recall) to register a jump. Immediate deployment hop-n-pops do not trigger the ProTrack. Immediately deploying made the ProTrack think you were riding the plane back down, but I bet spiraling turned it on! Just use a delay the next time or add a jump manually if a hop-n-pop doesn't record.Peaches, mikeThe Lord giveth and the M-79 taketh away. Welcome to the world of zero slack. next time I am not gonna wait so long to send since Grumpy said the same thing I did. Hey, it must be true then! SkydiveMonkey 0 #11 June 5, 2002 Quote Don't you have to be in freefall for 4 seconds before it starts recording You need 7 seconds in freefall. But that includes the time the p/c is pulling out te bag etc though. Let's go play chicken with a planet !!
mjasantos 0 #12 June 5, 2002 You are almost right...Pro-Track requires 7 secs to start logging... I assumed that the log shown on that dive (exit & deploying at 13K) was correct. If the unit is not defective, or it could be from the previous jump or could be from spiralling down on a front riser under canopy... Mountainman will be able to know exactly which was the situation...Blue Skies!Mario SantosMatrix FS (Portugal)
mountainman 0 #13 June 6, 2002 Hey, thanks for all the replys guys! Yeah, I think it must have been due to my spiraling down. I dumped RIGHT out the door and had less than one second before tossing the PC. At about 4k or so, I put the camera away and unstowed the brakes. After getting a bit closer to the dropzone, I spiraled down pretty hard (for fun) and that must have triggered it.I dont think it is faulty since it always works great otherwise. Thanks again! ddircksen 0 #14 June 6, 2002 Friend of mine did a Birdman from 19 000 feet a few weeks ago, the Protrack registered he dumped at 9800. He says he only started flying it properly at around that altitude.Go figure...
