smallest canopy u have seen anyone jump?

Recommended Posts

I've seen Andy Anderson under his xv 64. And Lisa (memorial this weekend) jump her 89 a lot. Then Luis Cani jumped that VX 46 for a while as a test jumper.....

Does it do anything if it is undone?

Increases control and performance quite a bit, IMO.
Definitely do it after deployment, and after ensuring you will be able to land that canopy, if you do it at all. :)--
Give them a sip of the darkside, and they just thirst for more.

a loosened chest strap will let the canopy spread out more naturally (if you have brought the slider down the risers) which "lets the canopy fly"... IMO better performance... I loosen mine all the way to the end, but not undone (I just don't feel comfortable with it off)... some folks take it off all the way, but I think most just loosen it.

there are very few people who take it clear off...it does drastically effect the canopy flight, though, which you can see as you loosen the strap. There are a couple of reasons why I don't undo mine...I lean on it while maneuvering for and during landing, if I were to hit the water, you could fly out of it while flipping, and for the reason that Clay mentioned, you never know what will happen before you land. The extra little added benefit is not worth the risk for me...of course, I'm not jumping a 58, either...can't really criticize their decision.

I know on Derek's 60 that the slider is so small that it is the determining factor on how much the risers spread. So for him there is no added benifit of doing more than loosening the chest strap. In my case the yoke of my rig is so small it determins how far the risers spread, when I loosen my chest strap it usually hangs with slack in it.
Now what I want to know about that picture of charlie is what kind of toggle/risers are those. It doesn't seem to be triple risers, but it looks like the stearing lines don't go threw the guide rings on the risers.
