This Sport Sucks ! !

Recommended Posts

After on and off shitty weather in New England and having waited all winter I finally did my AFF level 1 and level 2 done today. At 50 years old, my friends think I'm crazy. Tomorrow we'll go for level 3 and 4.
Now I know what my future holds. I'm going to spend my kid's college education at the dropzone. I'll probably call in sick enough to get fired. My wife will think I'm having an affair (I try like hell). My credit card will get maxed.
All because I started skydiving. I could have become a golfer.
NOT.

maxed and divorced.

think of it this way, free fall is better than sex anyway, and the duration climax is about the same lenth of time, enjoy yourself. when i went to my FJC, there was a 72 year old man there, who was a retired commercial airline pilot, bear in mind i'm a whuffo as well, so i ask him: "dude, why did you wait so long before making a skydive?" He replied what i have mentioned, he was a pilot, not a skydiver. he has my respect forever, for his endeavour! :)

jncoughlin,
I know the feeling. Isn't this sport wonderful. I got sucked back in when I was 49 (a few years ago). I still have trouble thinking about anything else. It's like I exist, but only really feel alive when I'm jumping. It's also great being pumped up before and after a jump. And the people in the sport are Super! My only complaint is that I wish it was cheaper, but the rewards you reap are well worth it. Steve

Don't worry , you will make lots of new friends who don't think you are crazy
>My credit card will get maxed.
You can always get another credit card.

Actually, your new friends won't care that you're crazy because they are too. :)"Some cause happiness wherever they go; others, whenever they go."

Gonna try like hell to be there on Saturday although weather might be iffy. Might even be able to "get sick" this afternoon. I work up the road in Norwood MA so it's less than 30 minutes to drive down.
I'll be the guy with the grey hair and the natural "arch" in front.
