Its about him trying to get it together to do a 'space jump' a la Joe Kittinger, and his fight with his own mind.
It doesn't really dwell on the agony of depression, just tries to explain some of the things in his life when he was going through it, day to day experiences and stuff, and he dips into some tales from his SAS (UK special forces days). There's also a chapter about him flying a wee Cessna from the US to the UK
Its definitely worth reading, if only for the immortal quote
"Why practice something you can only fuck up once", I'll let you find out the context of that one for yourself.....
He was a good skydiver, and pilot, and he had a wry sense of humour tempered with a hint of sadness. This is reflected in his writing.
