doh! actually, i'm canadian. i originally put domestic by itself, then thought i would clarify it by adding american. in hindsight, i should have just put (north) american, but now i can't edit it!

Just got a Honda Civic hybrid. After spending 5 years driving the van back and forth to drop zones from 45 to 350 miles away, I figured I'd get something that didn't use much gas (and this thing gets 50+ mpg highway.)

and this thing gets 50+ mpg highway

Too bad my truck can't do that, I average about 14-15mpg on the highway...but then again, I can pull a pretty big/heavy trailer. :) but I was doing 80mph and my truck didn't even blink)

Neat cars......let me know how it works out in the long run. I am a little suprised at the 50+ MPG. I saw an add for a VW Golf last night that got 42 MPG Highway. I would have expected a car that small with hybrid technology to do a little better. Oh well......these are some of the "first" production cars of their type. I'm sure they will improve in the next few years.

Audi S3, its cool, but I bought it for my sweetie, I drive rentals when I'm over here...

Golfs have been around for over a decade dude, what model was it. That mpg (American gallons I'm assuming right?)sounds like a GTi which goes like shit off a shovel, and sticks to the road like manure to a blanket, sweet wee cars......

>Congrats BIll. You finally did it. I would have thought it would get more than
>50 mpg though?
The Insight gets about 75mpg with the same electric motor/smaller gas motor, but it only holds 2 people and I have more crap than would fit in the back. One of the reasons I got this instead of the Insight is that it looks no different from a regular Civic - back seat, good sized trunk etc.

I drive a Citroen berlingo, a french van, about 2 months old.
I barely get the maximum highway speed (120 km/hr) and it empties a tank in 600 km, It take slike hours to get on speed, and to be completely honest, it's UGLY.
My previous car ( a Seat Ibiza 1.9 TDI 110hp) got speeds up to 220 km/hr, glued me in my chair and was a quite good chick-magnet.
I like the Citroen better!
Why????
1) Room enough for a matrass in the back, great for those after-skydive booze moments when you start thinking about meeting police on the way home with very little blood in your alcohol!
2) It's all paid for: purchase, taxes, insurance and gas, thank you Coca Cola enterprises Belgium!!!

Ok, since everyone else is putting down what they drive: :)1998 Chevy k1500 Z-71 Extended Cab. Maroon (what else :D). Unfortunately it sits a little low to the ground, but someday that'll be fixed...

The Civic Hybrid is pretty conventional looking on the exterior and pretty conventional in the cabin. I guess too many folks just aren't ready to go the Insight route. Randy Jackson, a fellow Perris jumper, has one and it has been described as "chick repellent", but I'm considering one for my next car purchase -- probably a few years away. Unfortunately, they still don't offer it in white, which is kind of required from my point of view.
Oh, currently driving a 1995 Saturn SC-2 -- just about to turn 100,000. Lifetime average of almost exactly 30 mpg. Mileage would be much better if I didn't drive quite as fast as I normally do.

I drive a 1988 Nissan truck. It is white with some orange-rust colored highlighting :D. Gets about 50 mpq (of oil, abut 20 mpg gas) and I'm getting a small tax break from the city for fogging these damned Arkansas mosquitos. No one has ever accused me of being car proud. :D

Boy this was a hot potato issue a few months back. I got in so much shit for driving an SUV. Anyway I have since redeemed myself. A month ago I traded my 2001 Acura MDX for a 2002 Acura RSX. I actually traded down. The dealer had to give me a check!!! Also...Billvon...I now get 33mpg!!!

man Fords are pieces of poo.

Yeah they are. Until I got my '00 Pontiac Grand Am, I didn't know that cars weren't suppose to smoke, leak all fluids, not work in the winter, lose their transmissions....
