bbarnhouse 0 #1 May 21, 2002 This past week-end was a real eye opener for me as I listened to some of the comments made by some of our skydiving family members toward some of the professional packers. Not only did they get treated badly by some, but they worked really long hours in 103 degree temperature. I heard one fella tell a packer that the opening was "unaceptable".......so she had someone else pack it the next time. That one wasn't "acceptable" either. Little did the gentleman know, that these are the packers for some of the top teams in this country. They give the same quality packs regardless of who you are. Furthermore, We are responsible for our lives, not the packer, they just afford us the opportunity to jump again. So,if you are jumpin junk ..........don't blame the packer.Don't treat them with such careless disregard! These people work long and hard for thier money.......TIP them too they deserve it! Ultimately, this same packer one day, might just be one of the best skydivers this nation has to offer. I've seen it posted here........be careful whose toes you step on, you may be kissing their a$$ one day. I offer that perhaps it would serve well to remember, that they are our family and treat them as such. To all of the packers out there........I salute you and thank you for your service.Cheers!BBBut 4000 windmills CAN'T be wrong!
SkydiveMonkey 0 #2 May 21, 2002 Too right - one of the coolest people I've met in skydiving was a packer, and he worked his ass off all day. Look at me, I'm falling off a cliff now - The Offspring
canopycudler 0 #3 May 21, 2002 I agree with you 100%!! I have to tell you.. the packer i use is 14 years old.. and i think hes kicks ass! For those packer bashers... If you have some wierd opening.. it might NOT be your packer.. it might be your body position! Talk to him or her.. offer suggestions.. and most of all BE NICE and TIP Well.. these people work there asses off..!! If Nate(16) amd Alex (14) at archway someday jump as good as they pack.. Look out guys.. competition is on the way!!Heres to packers nationwide.. CHEERS we're 74 miles from normal..... ..
weid14 0 #4 May 21, 2002 I love our packers at DeLand and Cross Keys, they rock, and of course they're mostly young hot women, that doens't hurt either!! j/k they work hard, and I try to make their job as painless as possible - set my brakes, uncollapse my slider and cock my PC. besides, then I know its done. jceman 1 #6 May 21, 2002 QuoteI love our packers at DeLand and Cross Keys, they rock, and of course they're mostly young hot women, that doens't hurt either!! Hear, hear!I always make it a point to tell my packer about my openings, especially the sweet ones. If I have a bad opening, I will talk with the packer and see if he/she had done anything different, if not, I suspect operator error. On the rare instance that I know I was in good opening position and get whacked I will discuss it in a non-confrontational way with the packer, and for some reason, the next opening is invariably sweet.I never bad-mouth a packer 'cause I figure they are human too. They make my life easier in general and I appreciate it.
Kelly 0 #7 May 21, 2002 dave, thanks and its okay to think your packers are hot chicks.oh yeah... whats going on with that exersize program? http://kel197.tripod.com/skydivefriendsTRIPOD/

skydiverbrian 0 #9 May 21, 2002 The jumper who goes from packer to packer complaining about "unacceptable" pack jobs seems a little hi-faloot'in. Packers not only work their asses off, but also have the morals not to pack you a mal when you act like an ass. I'll bet this person has had their food spit on in more than one restaurant. Some people are only alive because it's illegal to kill them.
weid14 0 #10 May 21, 2002 depends on which "routine" you want!!!!and I always tip!! (and say thanks) except Kelly only wants to pack for Alex, what's up with that -- my canopies are smaller and easier to pack too!!!!
