I made it.....

Recommended Posts

Well since some people are wondering, yes I made it to Denver in one cute little piece. :)Also, yes the cat survived the trip = No I didn’t kill him when he wouldn’t quit meowing
It gorgeous here, I’m about 12 miles south of Boulder and the views are fantastic, I’m even lucky enough to have a view of the mountains from my balcony. Checked out one of the DZs today, but opted not to jump since I still can’t walk up a flight of stairs without sucking wind and didn’t want to risk becoming hypoxic. Hopefully by next weekend I’ll pass the stairs test and be able to make some jumps.

Within a week, your erythrocytes should have produced enough 2,3 DPG to shift the oxygen dissociation curve to the right so that you can breathe at altitude.... Lord help me have a normal, care free, mindless summer....
Peace~

Well! Good for you SisterGirl.
Sorry I didnt get to see you before you left.
I hear you on breathing, boy do I ever. I now am unable to jump because of it here. Last 2 of 3 jumps /slash/ plane rides.. I had hyperventilating experiences. Now defined as Axniety/Panic situations. I am not sure what brought that on nor am I sure on how to fix it. I believe I may have to go back to a certain JumpMaster to help a sistah out. Weird huh?
I am super glad Kitty made it. I know Fox will love the cooler weather. I had to give OlavZipsTer a modified trim. What idiot talked me into a long haired dog anyway. Oh.... that would be me...
Anyway, I hope you are super well and good to know you are settled in.

:S WTF?! You should be careful talking about people's "erythrocytes" in a public forum. :D

Good call. I learned to skydive just south of Colorado Springs.
Unlike the planes here in Texas every jump plane I rode in Colorado had oxygen available for jumpers who asked for it. If you didn't ask, you didn't get it.

I moved back and forth from Houston to Colorado Springs several times and each time I went to the higher altitude it took about 3 weeks before I noticed my body significantly adjusting to it and it took a full 3 months before I was fully acclimated and could push myself cardiovascularly without my lungs burning pretty bad. (I was cycling a LOT at the time.)
I was fully acclimated when I began jumping and never used oxygen (mainly because no one else did and I, being the new jumper, followed suit). Having just come from sea level I would recommend using oxygen for AT LEAST the first month you're there if not the first three months.
Have fun and be safe!

The girl of adventure! Glad the trip went smooth. Your new place sounds fantastic.
It's always tough when a friend and a skydiver move away, but on the bright side, more options for fun weekends at friends place & DZ.
Cat, our original bunch is quiet spread out now. Super cool how we all still keep in touch and get together.
And knowing what a conservative jumper you are, Im sure you will wait till your ready.
Missin you already,
Paula

Welcome to Colorado.....hope it's everything you anticipated.
You should definitely try to make it out to the Boogie at Brush next weekend. It's gonna be a good 'un!
