i'm sorta curious fellow sky divers, as to why do you personall choose to sky dive.

because it's fun
because some people i know do it
because i feel as if i've cheated death each time i jump
because i'm "high energy" anyway, and into extreme sports
for the pure love of the sport, and comaradarie
i like jumping out of airplanes to impress my friends
i do it because it's the most exillarating sport i've participated in
i do it for personal gratification
i like being noticed for my skills
i want to encourage others to participate

i think i added plenty of choices

personally, i do it because it's the most exillarating sport i've ever participated in, i've done white water, bungee, 1/4 mile drag cars, driving extremely fast, NOTHING comes close to the exillaration of freefall, and canopy deployment, plus it helps keep the senses sharp! Richard

Personally, I feel like I've really acheived something everytime I dive. This might just be because I'm new though. I also can't wait to get better and try new things. Also I really like the idea of flying through the air like a bird. (OK, it's more falling then flying but conceptually, flying works for me.)

Because it does wonders for my not so great self esteem, because of the awesome rush, because of the quasi-mystic feeling of flying in freefall, because it feels great to nail the bullseye in the peas when landing, because of all the awesome people I meet, and most important because I have the weird feeling that somehow I was born to jump out of perfectly good airplanes.

At first it was the thrill of it and I've always thought high risk activities were fun. Now it's trying to give a little back to the sport by trying to increase our membership base through instructing. Nothing quite as cool as seeing the look in a new jumpers eyes when they finally 'get it' in freefall. Way too cool!

Back to the topic, I can't tell you how many times I've been under canopy, or just sitting around daydreaming about skydiving and I just start laughing thinking "Man, this is just the coolest sport in the world. People have no idea what they're missing."

Should have been multiple choice. It is exhilerating and self gratifying. It's hard to explain isn't it? I just know it has changed me somehow. To push myself to those limits, knowing what an accomplishment it is, really is good for the soul!

I heard someone say once that the reason they skydived was that it makes them feel so good about themself. I know I don't like myself very well if I'm not doing something meaningful, and I get that from skydiving. I like the comradery of good people, the freedom of freefall, the challenge of learning new things, and even the canopy ride is fun now days. Most of us are probably also hooked on the adrenaline rush at times. I agree, there's nothing else like it. Steve

i don't know who said it but who ever it was hit the nail on the head: " their is no feeling in the world than the feeling you get when you take the last step off of the plane, or the freedom you feel when you are flying through the air, that is why i skydive"
