rgoper 0 #1 May 3, 2002 i'm sorta curious fellow sky divers, as to why do you personall choose to sky dive. because it's fun because some people i know do it because i feel as if i've cheated death each time i jump because i'm "high energy" anyway, and into extreme sports for the pure love of the sport, and comaradarie i like jumping out of airplanes to impress my friends i do it because it's the most exillarating sport i've participated in i do it for personal gratification i like being noticed for my skills i want to encourage others to participatei think i added plenty of choices Richard"Gravity Is My Friend"
Zennie 0 #2 May 3, 2002 First choice said it all... because it's fun! It's the answer I always give whenever I get the obligatory whuffo question "Why would you jump out of....""Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense." rgoper 0 #3 May 3, 2002 personally, i do it because it's the most exillarating sport i've ever participated in, i've done white water, bungee, 1/4 mile drag cars, driving extremely fast, NOTHING comes close to the exillaration of freefall, and canopy deployment, plus it helps keep the senses sharp! Beachbum 0 #4 May 3, 2002 need to make that a multiselect list ... LOL ... I'd have to pick at least these 3 ... fun? high energy/extreme sports love of the sport, and comaradarie As long as you are happy with yourself ... who cares what the rest of the world thinks? gale 0 #5 May 3, 2002 Personally, I feel like I've really acheived something everytime I dive. This might just be because I'm new though. I also can't wait to get better and try new things. Also I really like the idea of flying through the air like a bird. (OK, it's more falling then flying but conceptually, flying works for me.)GaleLife's not worth living if you can't feel alive
xybe 0 #6 May 3, 2002 OK the half skidiver half whuffo answer:Because it does wonders for my not so great self esteem, because of the awesome rush, because of the quasi-mystic feeling of flying in freefall, because it feels great to nail the bullseye in the peas when landing, because of all the awesome people I meet, and most important because I have the weird feeling that somehow I was born to jump out of perfectly good airplanes.Still shedding whuffo-nessCheck out the Hardcore Whuffo pages
Spy38W 0 #7 May 3, 2002 I think it comes down to me just hating being on this planet between my flying, and skydiving and all... --Give them a sip of the darkside, and they just thirst for more.
coconutmonkey 0 #8 May 3, 2002 At first it was the thrill of it and I've always thought high risk activities were fun. Now it's trying to give a little back to the sport by trying to increase our membership base through instructing. Nothing quite as cool as seeing the look in a new jumpers eyes when they finally 'get it' in freefall. Way too cool!
coconutmonkey 0 #9 May 3, 2002 Gale, it's not flying. It's falling... with style....

bizarra 0 #13 May 3, 2002 stress relief, there's nothing like the door opening to make me forget work...for that 45 seconds, the only thing that matters is myself and the people i'm jumping with...

Zennie 0 #15 May 3, 2002 Quotethe wind blast drowns out the other voices in my head. It is the only time I get to myself Hell, do RW with them! Back to the topic, I can't tell you how many times I've been under canopy, or just sitting around daydreaming about skydiving and I just start laughing thinking "Man, this is just the coolest sport in the world. People have no idea what they're missing."I mean, we literally get a view that only birds get. How cool is that? "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense." hooked 0 #17 May 3, 2002 Should have been multiple choice. It is exhilerating and self gratifying. It's hard to explain isn't it? I just know it has changed me somehow. To push myself to those limits, knowing what an accomplishment it is, really is good for the soul!J"Catch your dreams, go skydiving".
FallingILweenie 0 #18 May 3, 2002 Because of the feeling of freedom and detachment from daily life i get when i do it."Marge, it takes 2 people to lie. One to lie and one to listen."-Homer

steve1 5 #20 May 3, 2002 I heard someone say once that the reason they skydived was that it makes them feel so good about themself. I know I don't like myself very well if I'm not doing something meaningful, and I get that from skydiving. I like the comradery of good people, the freedom of freefall, the challenge of learning new things, and even the canopy ride is fun now days. Most of us are probably also hooked on the adrenaline rush at times. I agree, there's nothing else like it. Steve

hobbes4star 0 #22 May 3, 2002 i don't know who said it but who ever it was hit the nail on the head: " their is no feeling in the world than the feeling you get when you take the last step off of the plane, or the freedom you feel when you are flying through the air, that is why i skydive" why jump when you can fly
