Snowflake 0 #1 May 2, 2002 In my quest to keep my mind of the negative. I ran across this little piece of info. Keep your fingers crossed Quote05/01/02 20:33:37All right kids, the latest update from Don, Bernice, and Joe.......they just picked up the big guns (Ed Scott USPA) for the FAA meeting in the early am, re: not only the JET, JET, JET, but for the Constellation, as well as the Carvair. Should be interesting. It is 8:22pm central time here, and the meeting is at 9:00am Thursday. Also the crew meet some SKYDIVERS at Rantoul. How cool is that. Yes they met them in a bar, go figure? Any who, the fur will be flying about 10:00 am. As soon as we know, you will know! I personally don't expect an answer Thursday, you know how the government is...but this little gossip hound will at least give you Don's version of the meeting. PS: identify yourselves you Rantoul SKYDIVERS! ellen@freefall.com check out the carvair here http://aerofiles.com/carvair.html what a weird looking plane. I hope I get to jump out of it.JG
PhreeZone 20 #2 May 2, 2002 From a forwarded email.....All-Pre Registration began this morning at 9:00 WFFC Time and I've made a couple calls in and they're all real busy. Could be a real nice turnout if early indications are a sign of things to come. At the request of management, I was asked to post the specialty planes that we're working on on the website. What is being relayed to me is that the aircraft owners have signed on, they're just pending FAA approval. What that entails, I do not know - I'm just the web flunky ;-)So here goes:727 Jet - The plane owner has a need for speed of his own.Super Constellation - Not the Save A Connie - pictures forthcomingAnd the Virgin:The Carvair - Never heard of it? Neither had I...Want a peek?http://www.freefall.com/images/aircraft/carvair_profile.jpgand http://www.freefall.com/images/aircraft/carvair_load.jpgSo, as the story goes, the papers are in order, the FAA just needs to pass on their blessings and we're all set. I do not know jump prices for any of these yet so keep an eye on the website!!!Eyes to the Skies!!!MichaelWebmasterMichael@Freefall.comwww.Freefall.comIf once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will.... nacmacfeegle 0 #7 May 2, 2002 Snowie, you are one lucky dude...I'll be back in Scotland jumping kick ass Cessnas at the time when you are piling out of extremely strange looking aircraft. ...So how do you plan exiting the Carvair? door looks tricky? This looks like the thing they fly Airbus wings from England to France in, does anybody know if its the same aircraft??Anyway, CyaD

kingbunky 3 #9 May 2, 2002 so.... do they preload the tube thing with jumpers, then jam it in the plane as soon as it hits the ground? i suppose that would speed up the turnaround time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~bunkyget crazy, before it gets you. coconutmonkey 0 #10 May 2, 2002 Yup, then they just push the tube out the back on jump run to speed up exits.... getting outta the tube is your problem...

nacmacfeegle 0 #12 May 2, 2002 Thanks Rem, I seem to remember seeing a weird looking AC used for transporting the Airbus wings from somewhere near Bristol over to France for airframe assembly, thassall.cheersDCyaD
Snowflake 0 #13 May 2, 2002 Nac it's gonna be a tricky exit you have to go straight down or you'll hit the props ;-). what if someone sabatoged your project? wouldn't you have to stay a little longer like say until August 1st.....it could happen(wink wink nudge nudge)JG
