airann 1 #1 April 27, 2002 Please help us remember our friend Mike Goodman who passed away a week or two ago. (not skydiving) He was one of those most excellent people who were always helping other people. Constantly. I have never known a more gentle, personable, likeable guy in my life. He had a thick country accent which attracted me to him right away as I am from a very small town and occasionally my heavy country accent comes out as well. I immediately liked him. He was just good ole salt of the earth and wonderful. I can not say enough about this wonderful person. I was always incredibly glad to see him. And he had a great big talent for making a person feel comfortable.Once out at Spaceland the sewage system was messed up - he fixed it and left a bunch of chlorine tablets for Steve. Then he went skydiving and thought nothing about it.His mother will do a tandem (for the first time) to realease his ashes and his close friends will be there to wish him Forever Blue Skies. Please think about us today at about 6pm thru 8pm this evening. I hope to release flower petals at 500 feet, (from the aircraft) once the family and friends land. However, I have just found out how difficult it is to find 3 garbage bags full of flower petals....He was kind, thoughtful and a gentle man.Footnote: Mike was shot x3 by a constable/sheriff and mauled by his dog, for riding his bike down the middle of the road. He had a 'shiny' pair of pliers in his back pocket that allegedly he reached for..... this event is under investigation from both the police point of view and the friends and family's point of view. Mike Goodman never hurt a fly in his entire life.Today, Mike Goodman should be smiling that smile of his and skydiving with us. We all loved him dearly and his is missed very much. There is a hole left in our family at Waller. Mike was one of a kind.I can say that at the funeral home Mike had a large number of people come in addition to large numbers who just could not. And I SO understand that, I was not sure that I could. Gary spoke extremely well of his friend and it was one of the most moving things I have ever heard. Gary sat next to me when he finished and we shared a large amount of personal grief.I would like to mention this because of the very good taste in which this was done. Mike had a black square piece of material over his hands. In the center was the Orbit Punks logo patch. This gesture by Thomas is overwhelming. I cant find the words to express the emotions about that extremely fine thing, it was just wonderful. Those were the good times.*******These statements and opinions are MY OWN. I could be wrong or may not have mentioned proper details and this is MY fault.I for one will never, in one million years, forget Mike Goodman. Never. He was named so perfect- Good ManAnn ~ www.AirAnn.comAnyone want a Kitten?

I hope they pull out the book and go to work on the constable in the invesigation. airann 1 #8 April 28, 2002 The jump went really good... The pilot was excellent. He did a fly by at 100 to some say 50 feet, I was in the back trying like hell to get open the door I closed..... I finially got it open about 2 inches and jammed my arm out and tried to pull the plastic bag with the flowers in it out the hole- no way... I jammed my elbow in the crack and widened the gap... right about the time I was to cut the bag.... Anyway ..drama... It went fine .....As Levin put it... The flowers were real cool. (They landed all down the runway and stuff) But the fly by was BAD ASS.He must have gone straight down buzzed then straight back up... I couldnt tell I was flopping around in the back with my arm stuck in the door..... Man is it tore up today.... bruised all to hell.My good friend Mike being the total joker that he was -refused- to gome out of the ashes bag and become one with the skies.......So we go again at Noon today...... I dont know if his Mother will go again but she sure is a trooper. She wore one of Mikes old jumpsuits. And Mikes best friend Scary Gary wore the one Mike is known for....... it was breath taking. Mikes other friend wore his rig- Kyle. Others on the jump were Thomas McDowell and Sean Simon of the Orbit Punks, Levin, Karen, ... I am missing a few names.... sorry...The hardest thing for me was seeing that jumpsuit.Today we will plant some Iris plants near the north end of the swoop pond. I picked them out especially so you will see them in every competition picture.Ann ~ www.AirAnn.comAnyone want a Kitten?
Antithesis 0 #9 April 28, 2002 I think that we as citizens should have the right to publicly review our law enforcement officers. They need to remember that they are working for us as dignified public servants Not trigger happy roid raging controll freaks. It always makes me sad to hear that an innocent, good person had to die by the hand of another who we "trust" to protect us.
skybytch 273 #10 April 28, 2002 Can we please keep the police debate off this thread? airann 1 #13 April 28, 2002 Right - Mike refues to come out of the especially designed bag - that a rigger made for the event. Mike just wants to skydive again thats all. And plus he loved to watch us all laugh. I bet his sides were sore from laughing...I just got back from the dz, they will do another ashes release try again today later this afternoon. I couldnt stay. Some friends and I planted the iris plants at the edge of the swoop pond and released the rest of the flower petals. Did I tell you guys my arm got stuck in the door. As I was closing it to about 6 inches it went all the way down. I couldnt get it back up.... so anyway I figured out a way and tossed the petals but my arm stayed in the door for the rest of the flight almost. Heh....Ann ~ www.AirAnn.comAnyone want a Kitten? FreeflyGoat 0 #14 April 29, 2002 Fare well Mike. I will miss him when I come down to Houston. He was a character and I enjoyed talking to him with his thick accent when I came down there. From pulling stuck trucks in the mudd and getting stuck himself to making freefly jumps with him, I will remember the times we crossed. What a tragedy, I cant believe I just found out the circumstances. I can hardly fight back the tears. That bastard hiding behind a badge took my friend.Goat aka Dereck aka SuperFreakAD A#
