TheMarshMan1 0 #1 April 25, 2002 OK, so a few weeks ago I go to Lenscrafters to order new prescription sunglasses. Well, so much for their "ready in about an hour" campaign- they say it will take 2 weeks. Whatever. I decide to think about it. A few days later I come back and order a pair of Ray Bans. Their exact words were: "It takes up to two weeks." Fine, I'm not leaving for another 4 (at the time). As I'm getting ready to leave, she says: "Oh, you have to pay for these up front." Whatever, I grumble, but cut them a check for $165 (mind you, insurance paid for $178 of them- these arent cheap shades).Fast forward to last Friday- it hadn't quite been two weeks yet, but I call anyways because I will be at the mall (a 40 minute drive from my house) and if they're in I'd want to pick them up. "Nope, not here yet, should be in any day now- we'll call you when they get here," they tell me. So I wait. Until tuesday, then I call again (tuesday was 2 weeks). "Nope, not here yet- should definitely be in by thursday. We'll call you when they get here." Guess what? No calls today, so I call them up a few minutes ago. "Nope, not here yet- I dont know what to tell you. Call back tomorrow." Now I'm pissed. Royally. I want my sunglasses, or I want my money back until I actually have them in my hands. They refuse this request. Has anyone else here had trouble with prescription sunglasses from Lenscrafters? Is there anything I can do to get my money back until they come in? I called customer service and they said to call the manager, but the manager is the one whom I've been dealing with all along. Any advice? Anyone? P.S.- sorry for the long-ass rant, but I feel better now that I've ranted about it. "If I could be like that, I would give anything, just to live one day, in those shoes..." Michele 1 #2 April 25, 2002 Lenscrafters is a chain, right? So, take it to the regional/district manager - the one above the manager you've been speaking to. Let them know a) you are dissatisfied, b) false advertising could apply c) you are a very vocal person - as a matter of fact, you will make sure nearly 10,000 people know about this problem, and then give them a firm deadline - you either have glasses in hand by "x" date, or you want your money back. In fact, you feel you should be getting something back now.....I had an experience with Lenscrafters when I wore contacts, and had a problem. The sales person quoted "x" price, so I ordered 2 pair of lenses....but when the time came to pay, I was told it was twice the price, and the sales person must've made a mistake.I took it to the regional manager, let him know politely and firmly that I felt like I was being ripped off, and ended up with the original price (basically, the second pair free...).Give it a go - what could it hurt?Ciels and Pinks-MicheleIf you really want to, you can seize the day; if you really want to, you can fly away...~enya~
freeflydeeva 0 #3 April 26, 2002 You won't be able to get your money back unless you get a refund. Lenscrafters is the prime example of big adverstising to pull you in and then screw you when you get there. From someone in the optical business, there should be no reason why you shouldn't have had the glasses in a week if they couldnt make them in their house lab. Definately get their regional managers name. Keep going up until you get the service. If they won't provide the name, go to the mall management. All stores in a mall have to provide store manager names and regional manager names. If you create enough noise high enough you will get the service.
