Boo to all preceeding suggestions. Well, not really, but...
Try some:
Soul Coughing (Ruby Vroom, El Oso, etc.)
The Beta Band (They have like, 4-5 discs I think.)
Operation Ivy
Lambchop (Don't get discouraged by they're description, listen to a couple tracks)
Well that's it, boo away!

One of the best "local" bands I've ever heard was Buck 32 (in central FL). Another good one from the western NY area is Molotov Cocktail- they've been on the up and up lately- you may here them on the radio soon.

If you're in the mood for some good cover music, you can't go wrong with Richard Cheese. Especially his covers of NIN's Closer and Nirvana- Rape Me.

Maybe it's just my mood or something, but that stuff is pretty cool. downloaded a bunch of stuff by him, will put it on a CD and listen to it tomorrow.

I've been out studying for most of the night, I'm about to get back to that, just taking a break (school is basically kicking me in the nuts right now).
I downloaded a lot of what was recommended before my last post, pretty good stuff. Didn't find a new favorite band or anything, but I enjoyed the new (to me) music. :)Although, right now my playlist consists of System of a Down (most of their discography, actually), but I'm sure that it will change tomorrow, since I usually make a new playlist everyday. Once I just put my entire mp3 directory in Winamp, but it burst into flames and died a horrible death, even though it was cool/really random for a while...

Check out Operatica "0" - it's opera house fusion. Very cool.
Big Muff is a jazz house compilation. One of the better tunes is "My funny Valentine" remixes.
Another good house compilation I really liked was "Nude Dimentions - Naked music volume one".
Wild schuff, that...

We shouldn't kill her. I think her music should only be allowed in Canada though....they deserve to suffer for producing such an irritation.

As a card carrying Canadian, I'm tired of apologising for:
Celine.
Brian Adams.
Anne Murray.
Allanis Morissette.

You also gave us Mike Meyers, spawner of the "Austin Powers" franchise.

We'll also take credit for Neil Young, Glenn Gould, Allanah Myles, Rush, Sarah McLachlan, John Candy, Catherine O'Hara, Dan Akroyd, Martin Short, Keanu Reeves, Michael J. Fox, Norman Jewison, Barenaked Ladies, The Guess Who, and of COURSE Diana Krall.
I should've added Paul Anka and William Shatner to the first list.
I wonder how many Americans listening to "American Woman" realised it was written by foreigners?

I realize, and I find the lyrics kind of insulting. ;)
And let us not forget the Kids in the Hall, that bastion of ironic comedy.
It's not a freestyle routine, it's a SIT!

Learn to spell "apologizing," and stand tall! You also gave us Mike Meyers, spawner of the "Austin Powers" franchise.

Can't get more ironic than that. One the same line where you are correcting someone's spelling, you misspell something else:
Mike Myers
:D
200 feet of Saran Wrap and noone to play with. . .
