THE BEST KIND!
Bear with me - I just need a couple of minutes up here on my soapbox. (Any more than that and I'd lose my balance on my one good leg!) There are lots of sports where the participants have a strong comraderie, but none like skydiving. When I had a midair collision last August and broke 2 ribs and almost lost my tongue (among other injuries) my skydiving family kept me going on. People I barely knew called me long distance at home to see how I was doing. It meant the world to me - especially since my husband (at the time) was so pissed he wouldn't even speak to me. When Ann almost lost her house and her children last month, dz.comers rallied around her and came to her rescue without her even having to ask them to! No one expected anything in return except Ann's happiness. When I broke my leg in January, the Germain's took care of me in their house for 3 WEEKS despite the fact that they barely knew my first name! And on a day-today basis how many people do you know who would offer to lend THOUSANDS of dollars worth of equipment to even their closest friend when it could get filthy, torn, ruined etc... much less to someone new? To all my skydiving family who has kept a huge grin on my face while healing my shattered tibia, who have put me up in times of need, who have helped any other fellow skydiver just because that's what we do (and to skycat and TequilaGirl and all the others who do their best to keep everyone safe and current and smiling in the sky...)
THANK YOU AND I LOVE YOU!!!

RIGHT ON DOVE!!!! I've been in this sport almost six years,and one thing i have noticed skydivers dont care where you are from or who you are,you're family!!!!
from cleaveland parachute center,to skydive puetro rico,to greenbay skydivers,WFFC ,z-hills and all the rest. i have been welcomed to each dz with welcome arms.

HERE F()*$IN HERE!!!!!
To me most of the appeal of skydiving is the 100% AWSOME people i have met. When i at the DZ i have a reputation for being the guy that goes to McDonalds and gets 20 cheeseburgers and lets anyone who wants one have it. When Steve broke his Leg i went to the hospital with him. I do stuff like this b/c i know that that each and everyone of the people i jump with would do the same thing for me.

Yup! Yup! Yup! I've had good friends before - but never like the ones I've made skydiving. And I have had the same experience at new dropzones... always welcomed in with a smile and open arms!
Will do n2. I'm supposed to see Brian and Michelle this weekend or Monday. Can't promise you anything on the Samurai tho!

You know about people sometimes I wonder. But not so much about skydivers. Everytime I tell the story to the whuffo gang they just look amazed.
Most every skydiver I know is top of the line COOL.
I think Dove and I have alot in common. We get it.

I agree with you! I am continually amazed at the nice things people do for me at the dz. Everyone is so willing to share their knowledge, if not take me up for free coach jumps--just to be nice. Everyone here is great too. I really would like to meet all of you.
The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP.

Yep...the people are cool! Along my way in ten years in the military I made a lot of life long friends. Thanks to that I have 20 places I have to stop when driving across the country. In the winter of 2000 I was driving from Montana to Georgia and just had to stop in Filmore, Missouri and have lunch with a guy I hadn't seen in 5 years. His wife was pretty suprised when she opened the door. I stopped by out of the blue and got a big hug from Kendra and they insisted on buying my Dad and I lunch. Skydiving has been the exact same way.I have made so many new friends through skydiving its amazing. I haven't gotten to travel much yet in my two years in the sport but that is about to change. Eloy....Lost Praire here I come! Now if I could just meat more unattached chics it would all be good. :)Good News Medic! Lets hope you stay clean this time!
