Ok Get a Nikon F100 or a Hornet 210?

Recommended Posts

I am very torn on this one. It will take me two paychecks to get enough $$$ to get either.
The F100 is a top of the line 35mm SLR Camera Body it costs $1000
The Hornet 210 will be my first main, it costs $700
Both of these "toys" would help me excell in either of my favorite sports. I don't want to flip a coin but it looks like thats what i am gonna have to do.
Would you guys rather see me become a better Photographer before a better Skydiver, or the other way around.

I can sympathize with you, I'm a photographer, but I bought all my camera gear before I got into skydiving. I'd say unless you want to work for a newspaper or shoot sports (like basketball, not skydiving) then buy a cheaper camera and a main, but not a hornet.

Same here - I bought the Nikon F90, flash and lenses four years ago, before I got into skydiving....Now all my extra $$$ goes into skydiving!!! (Not that I have much $$$ left after my new rig, which, btw, is on it's way to me now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Life is for the LIVING!!!!! :D

CBurket, Have you jumped a Hornet before? Yeah, the get a bad wrap (damn, sorry, no pun intended) sometimes because they're not a totally original design, but they fly really well.
A human cannonball, I rise above it all
Up higher then a trapeze, I can fly

just ask yourself which one you'd prefer to have on you next time you jump out of a plane, personally i'm thinking the main would be a damn good idea!
Anyway get the Hornet coz they rock, i got a hornet 190 as my first chute (second hand but only just over 100 jumps from new) and it is just so cool, flies great and has a really powerful flare, it's the first time i've enjoyed the canopy ride as much as the freefall

I feel your pain Viking......
Get an issue of Shutterbug... you should know what that is... Or log on to yet another future sponsor...
Yeah
and get a used body in mint condition or near mint. If you are jumping your camera you might not want to put a super expensive one up there for now.
Then find you a used canopy..... You might can get both.....
You shouldnt forget to dream big, ya know.

I don't plane on jumping Camera until i have atleast 200 jumps and when i do i will will not be using an F100!!!! I would be using the F100 to shoot high speed landings and also since i "work" for the school paper this camera would help me get some shots that i havn't been able to get b/c of the shity performace of my current camera, a Nikon N60.

GET THE NIKON! i am a skydiver and photographer, but, i can only jump when i am at the DZ but i can shot pics all day and night and everywhere i go! i have been saving up for the F100 since before skydiving and i have not got it yet! i could buy 25 nikons with what i have spent on skydiving! as for the canopy, buy a used one because you will out grow it sooner or later and you will save a little cash for the fastest lens of your choice! as for your choice of camera it is very good! get a fast lens to go with it and you will not have any problems catching even derek v.(skydive houston) swooping at 100mph+ and everyone will love your pics too!
