canopycudler 0 #1 April 1, 2002 I think i'm having one of those days. I just sent my Omega in for a reline so meanwhile I'm renting the skymaster main from my dz and putting it in my container. I am having diffulties packing at the moment.. ( I have a torn quadrasip tendon that needs surgery.. but i'm not having it done until next fall if i can help it) I can pack..but i'm not able to get on my knee to get it into the bag or to close the container).. Soooo anyway..First jump of the morning was a big way, and of course i manifested. Our regular packers weren't there this weekend so another kid was filling in.. he packs alot so it didn't really phase me.. anyway. he packed i jumped.. after an uneventful but nevertheless fun 2pt 10 way.. i track then stopped.. looked at my altimeter, it said 3500 so i dumped......OHHHHHH pain .... i think i was under canopy in like 100ft.. my back popped from the bottom up.. it was awful.. immediatley looked up. YEP.. broken line.. first instinct is to chop it.. but after i realized my fingers and toes were still moving, i did a canopy check & flare.. it was flyable and flaired fine for the most part, so i rode it down and it landed fine. ..Bad news.. one broken line and THREE nearly broken lines.. Cause: Line dumpSolution: WANTS MY CANOPY BACK!!!!!!!!Cost: $160 to repair..Price of the look on my face after that opening. PRICELESS!!Other than today.. weekend as a hole was pretty good.. did a 10pt 4 way.. and first hoola hoop jump!! AND... FOR my weekend posts.. i'd like to add another..Humps: Jumps: Beer: Number of shoes lost this weekend..For me 0:9:1:2Amout of shoes lost for our DZ this weekend was 4!! Two were lost in the mud.. One was lost in freefall and one went on a road trip!! Happy Easter, all!! work like you don't need the money, love like you've never been hurt and dance like nobodys watching. .. AggieDave 6 #2 April 1, 2002 Man, that sucks, are you ok? Your neck hurt or anything? [sad] Atleast you didn't have to chop it and then chance loosing it and/or your freebag and pay for a repack and buy a 1/5th of expensive stuff...It looks like you got a deal, since around here the packers charge extra for mals..."Homer Simpson, smiling politely." FallinWoman 1 #3 April 1, 2002 0:7:0:1Okay, I had a wet shoe. I had clean dry socks. I thought it would be a good idea to line my shoes with plastic bags....to keep my socks clean and dry....As I left the plane something felt weird. I lost a shoe. A shoe. The left one. I blew it off and flew the dive... and I did ok!!! I had to land in the mud ( there are no real dry spots in Illinois right now) with my shoe less foot. So much for keeping the sock clean and dry!!!!Anne

FallinWoman 1 #5 April 1, 2002 The good news is that it was only a $90 skydive for me....the jump ticket plus the cost of my Adidas.... I thought for a while there that I had lost my custom made orthodics...at $100 a piece, that would have been expensive.....Anne

canopycudler 0 #14 April 1, 2002 Quote ..hell of a lot of good surfs..... You should have taken a picture of your 50ft surf!! It left permerant treadmarks in the wet grass.. between the treadmarks and the jumpsuits that all of us had to have dry out before vacuuming (wet, muddy jumpsuits were hung over the fences), it looked like a garage sale for clowns that just came from a truck and tractor pull!! work like you don't need the money, love like you've never been hurt and dance like nobodys watching. .. AggieDave 6 #16 April 1, 2002 Quoteit looked like a garage sale for clowns that just came from a truck and tractor pull!! HAHAHAHA!!!That's one of the funnier things I've read tonight. Then again, I've been reading a couple books about Stalin's terror from about 1930 - 1941...eitherway, that was funny."Homer Simpson, smiling politely." indyz 1 #20 April 1, 2002 It was really funny. Jason accidentally left the wind tee locked in a direction that happened to be pointing downwind. Sam did a belly slide and totally soaked her jumpsuit, Marc got dirty, Anne surfed it in. The people who stayed on their feet had to really work at running it out. Everybody got at least a little mud on them. Of course, I completely forgot that I had my digital camera with me, so there are no pictures. Another funny story: On Friday Jason had a tandem student pull at 13 grand. They landed way off and when he went to a house to get help, the guy had a shotgun.--Brian

LOL.... is that a record long canopy ride??hehehe.. its great, you gotta see the video!! work like you don't need the money, love like you've never been hurt and dance like nobodys watching. .. Iflyme 0 #24 April 1, 2002 QuoteI lost a shoe. A shoe. Oh -- Oh!! Me MeMeMe!!! I have a shoe story!!2 2-ways in the c-182... we're out first, the other guys out next -- well my buddy's left foot slips down between the wheel and the step, and when it pulls his foot back, it slips outta the shoe! ... he lands under canopy in our very damp/muddy farmer's field -- wearing just one shoe, and the pilot has to radio the control tower saying he's "got a shoe stuck in the wheel". The tower asks back "is it a brake shoe?" -- and the pilot says back "no - it's a nike". He lands the plane ok, and even grabs the shoe off the runway where it popped out. Crazy shit can happen anywhere!!!"There's nothing new under the sun"
