skybytch 273 #26 March 21, 2002 Just got another update. He called his mom this morning, which is in itself a really good sign The pancreas is working and both kidneys are working with a jump start (which is apparently very normal). This is very good news!!The new pancreas means he won't have to do the diabetic thing anymore - no more insulin shots! pull and flare, lisa

Lindsey 0 #31 March 22, 2002 New pancreas is very cool....so is new kidneys. So where did they actually put the kidneys..... I understand that transplanted kidneys go in front, near the bladder, because there's so much other stuff that interferes with them going where they used to be. I sure wish him wellness with his new parts.....Peace~LindseyEve was framed!

SpeedRacer 1 #35 March 22, 2002 In answer to the question about what does a pancreas do:The pancreas is about the size of a hand and lies just behind the lower part of the stomach. It secretes insulin which promotes the uptake of sugar from the bloodstream into the cells and glucagon which does the reverse & thereby raises the level of sugar in the blood.Speed Racer"Fill your hand, you son-of-a-bitch!"
