GrumpySmurf 0 #12 March 22, 2002 They have a slight musky smell to them - it's from the oil they secrete onto their fur. The more you bathe them, the more oil they secrete - the more they smell. The next smelliest thing is the urine, it's very high in amonia (sp?), there are additives for their water you can get to help break it down, I just change thier litter pans every day. Easiest way to control the smell is to change thier litter every day and wash thier bedding (especially the bedding, since they spend alot of time sleeping) once a week (I also wash thier cage out with Mr.Clean at the same time). The smelliest thing about my two is thier food, and that stuff stinks - I have a pair of glade plugins next to thier cage to mask the smell of that - they don't seem to mind (they don't sneeze any more than normal).
