It may just be me, but that news release is a big deal.when we look back on history from say, 500 years in the future, we can say, yeah, we were around for that.

I was reading about prelim. research, etc and thought it was cool, but not reproduced yet. Naw, it's not just for geeks, it's for everyone, that could be a very profound discovery

Maybe just a small one, about 3ft in diameter. They could use it as a trashcan, like Enron shredding only better. Think about the money they could make selling it to CEOs and stuff...:D

Give it a couple years...
After the Large Hadron Collider goes online in 2006, physicists will try to make black holes by slamming protons together. These particles are made of even smaller subparticles called quarks and gluons. If two of these "partons" collide to form a black hole, the result should be spectacular.

Centuries of science have given us more robust ways to do just about anything on the battlefield - communicate, observe, move, attack, etc. But beyond helmets and flak jackets, just about only thing science hasn't done is increase the capacity of the human body to withstand damage. :(
