Two firsts for Spy aka Pete this weekend. He did not post anything so I am starting it for him.
1. First Cutaway Reserve Ride:
Quotes from Spy during our conversation..."Yep, got spanked by opening (was heard by people on the ground), aimed it for the DZ with rear toggles, it turned away... collapse slider, go to pull toggles, and uhm, why's the end cell not inflating... pump risers, toggles, everything, nothing works and I noticed that the sun is shining brighter on that cell (found out on the ground that 2 cells blew out). tried some turns and flares to see if it was landable, it wasn't, so then I gave her the ol' kachink. I think that was probably the closest I have come to the initial fix of adrenaline that I got with my pre-second jump."

Sucks because he has under 10 jumps on his new rig and about 50 total. He got it over with early!

hehe, Somebody asked what happened when I landed, I just said that I wanted to get another jump in.

No problem Pete. This is the sort of thing people need to know can happen even with new canopies. Got to love the first cutaway. You look down, see red see silver, brab red grab silver, your mind is saying oh fuck but your hands seem to do it anyway. Next thing you know you are back in freefall and under a new canopy for the first time! Did you have the RSL hooked up? Did you still pull both anyway?
As for the competition, you guessed a pencil! It is funny because I did a search on aol and a pencil factory came up. I wasn't going to say a pencil because it sounded too easy.

RSL, Hrm, well, I don't have one, so my only option was to pull both. I did the 'old' method of having one hand on each, and pulling red, then pulling silver. You are definitely right about the mind saying "don't do this" but the hands just doing it.
So far as the competition, I thought it was pencil, replied with pencil, thought, gosh what a moron I am, gonna get flamed for this for days, then a few hours later I was thinking, hey wait, it was a pencil. Can't wait to get a picture of the boobies I'm sponsoring.
