freeflir29 0 #1 March 17, 2002 Watch out...it seems I'm having a stroke of good luck. I just seriously started looking for a canopy and low and behold....A Stilletto 170 pops up (exactly what I wanted BTW) in the classified adds. I missed the Heatwave but it looks like this one should be here before next weekend. You nay sayers can start making funeral arrangements. I'm getting all excited like when I was waiting on my first rig to show up. Have no fear....I'll get Tim to shoot video of my first landing so everyone can see the fireball and flying limbs......."I only have a C license, so I don't know shit..right?"-Clay

NathanL100 0 #3 March 17, 2002 You should fly camera too, so we can see it from multiple perspectives. Now that would be SWEET!!!!Just keep your mind open and suck in the experience. And if it hurts, you know what? It's probably worth it

PalmettoTiger 1 #5 March 17, 2002 Yeah, I second that! The first-person camera doesn't show much, but what you do see is HIGH-larious. Once a jumper with a sidemounted camera caught a weird downdraft just at flare time - he flared and the canopy planed out, but at that instant the air around him was moving down, so he basically hit without the benefit of flaring and did a feet-knees-chest-chin PLF. His video of it showed a green blur as he slid on his belly for a bit, and then as he rolls and the camera comes off the ground you can see a little rooster tail of grass clippings being thrown up in his wake. Since he was only shaken up and not hurt, it was fuckin' funny. PTigerI'm stepping through the doorAnd I'm floating in a most peculiar way

AndyMan 7 #8 March 17, 2002 Clay - I put three more jumps on my new Stiletto today and had a blast.I love the stiletto. It's great fun. I'd highly encourage you to get one. If the canopy training you've had is even close to as good as you imply, I'm sure you won't have major issues with it.Be carefull, though. The Stiletto, (in my humble opinion) is a much better choice then the heatwave. The heatwave exihibits all the same nasty things as the Stiletto , only worse. The heatwave will spin up faster, is more "twitchy", dives faster, and is even less forgiving then the Stiletto with respect to sharp toggle movements.Don't ever stop learning, though.Oh, I did my first flat turn on my Stiletto today. During a tracking flock dive I went low and opened way out. I flew all the way back in half brakes, did a low 180 flat turn, and landed in half brakes. The Stiletto flared out beautifuly, even gave me forward movement in moderately strong winds. flyhi 24 #9 March 17, 2002 QuoteI'll get Tim to shoot video of my first landing so everyone can see the fireball and flying limbs.Dude, you are just way too good to us. Remember, keep your hands high whe you hit (impact?) so you don't break anything and won't be able to post. Btw, bet you love it! Good luck.Just take it one day at a time, like the drunks do.flyhi
