Emmie 0 #1 March 15, 2002 I finally finished all of my papers. The last one's due tomorrow morning, so I never bothered prinitng it out. I completely forgot about it untill now, so I go to open the file, but the paper is gone! I know I saved it, but it just dissapeared into thin air. I really hate computers sometimes. This kind of shit always happens whenever i have a deadline. Now I have to go ahead and start all over again & of course since all of the paper was bullshit, I can't remember what it is that I actually wrote. My life sucks! PalmettoTiger 1 #3 March 15, 2002 Most recent word-processing programs have an autosave function. If you can't find anything about it in the word processor's menus and you're using a Windows computer, change your Folder Settings (Start-> settings-> Control Panel -> View [on the top toolbar] -> Folder Options -> View) to "Show all files", then go to the folder where you saved the paper. The autosaves might show up then.PTigerI'm stepping through the doorAnd I'm floating in a most peculiar way

lummy 4 #5 March 15, 2002 you can also do a search for files created on such a such a date....Or if you haven't been REALLY busy lately, the DOCUMENTS icon off the start menu lists your last 10 or so documents you openedMake up your own ending, let me know just how you feel.... lummy 4 #6 March 15, 2002 you can also do a search for files created on such a such a date....Or if you haven't been REALLY busy lately, the DOCUMENTS icon off the start menu lists your last 10 or so documents you openedautosave is an option only if you had forgotten to save a document and you now where it is, you MIGHT have a chance of getting the document with the recent changes. I think he might have been thinking of autorecover where if the app crashed on you in this instance since you already said you saved it. Go back in to the app (HINT don't click on a document, go to start, programs, app) and it will bring it back. And while in there and discover that the autorecover function didn't , look at the bottom of the file menu in the app. THAt will also have the last 3 or 4 docs you opened in that program.Make up your own ending, let me know just how you feel.... Emmie 0 #7 March 15, 2002 I tried everything you guys mentioned , (except for the heavy drinking, but I'm concidering it). Nothing works, the fucking thing is just gone. To make matters worse I was up till 4 am last night playing with my new rig, so I'm half asleap now. So I'm basically screwed. And instead of trying to write my paper I'm here posting. I wish I could put myself out of my misry!

bbarnhouse 0 #16 March 15, 2002 I love to hate my "puter". It does however have some interesting things that I wish I could use in real life. Such as; the ignore button, block sender, escape, home, insert!!, alt and delete. Oh wouldn't it be fun?LMAOIt only takes a little pixie dust......
