Children?

Recommended Posts

Through all these posts, we've been asked where we work, why we skydive, etc. So here is one more question, just for curiosity. Who has children and what are their ages? Do they support (if their old enough to form an opinion) your skydiving or does it make them nervous? I have two sons, one who is very supportive, and has done a tandem when I did mine and my other son.....it makes him very nervous!

I don't have any kids.. but I have 5 adorable nieces! Ages 11, 10, 9, 3 and 1!! The 10 year old, was at the dz with my parents over the summer and she LOVED IT!! The three middle ones always ask if I have any new videos and talk about how I'm gonna take them for their 18th bday.. the 3 yr olds says "My aunt TT jump outta bearplanes.." LOL.. they are sooo cute!
Just got the 9 year old a T shirt yesterday for her birthday that said "Future Skydiver".. it was a HIT!!
Supported by Alll family members.. as you can see!
Busses here don't work. I am an asshole.

I have a boy (Austin-3) and a girl (Kaylee-4). They both LOVE the sport. Whenever a put on a video, or they show some jumps on REAL TV, they are silent...still.....they are entranced by the sport. Kaylee likes to practice her arch on the automin (sp?), while Austin likes to be flown around like a human airplane!! Do they support me? Yeah...I'd say so!! (They are the only two people in my family that do!) It makes me feel good too!!!! B|

My 2 daughters, who are now 7 and 9, watched me land my first jump. They hang out at the DZ sometimes, and are on a first name basis with many of the jumpers there. They dig skydiving, and will likely try it themselves when they are old enough.

2 boys Kendall is 7 and Kevin is 14.
Kendall has a blast at the DZ and there are a lot of kids there to play with. He brags to his friends and teachers that his Mommy is a Skydiver.
Kevin brags on me too, but hates going to the DZ..."it's boring, there's nothing for me to do..." typical early teen...thinks he has to be entertained 24/7. Kevin has broke his Femur twice though, once at Age 8 playing Basketball and once in September playing Soccer. I tease him all the time that he WILL NOT BE TRYING SKYDIVING ;)

Yes, Alix is 13 and Nick is almost 11. They are proud of me and brag to their friends, but they don't want to hang out at the dz because "it's so boring and there's nothing to do." Nick has already been to the tunnel with me and has a great arch, wants to do a tandem and is doing an oral report he has due on skydiving. Alix is a big scardy-cat and doesn't really want to try it yet. I'll still keep working on her though!

I have 2. Sarah is 21 & Terrence is 14. They watched me land on 9/29/01 on a high wind day. They were impressed that only after a few jumps, I managed to land even though I was drifting further away from my landing field ; ) But they too find the dz boring cuz there's nothing to do.
Although my son would like to try it...he's not interested in watching my videos or hearing about my latest & greatest exits...or my bruises on my legs & knees. Sarah has NO desire whatsoever...but I think she's secretly thinking about it.
What you "think" you cannot do ...you CAN if you "think" about it ;)

I have nothing agaist children and have none of my own ( probably becuase i'm only 20) But I want to wait until I am finished school and well secured finicially that way my children will grow up with everything that I could not. If I had children they would hang out at the DZ and I would hope that they encourage me but if they do not support me and it worries them so much I might stop the sport
Who ever said comming down from a high was bad obviously never tried this.

I'm very lucky; both my daughters are extremely supportive, the exact opposite of their grandmother- my youngest is 17; some of you have met her on the 1st haiku thread-- my eldest is 27, her hubby and my grandkids love to come out to the DZ- my granddaughter, 3, and grandson, 7, love the colorful parachutes and seeing the skydivers play under canopy.

Yup, I have a three year old, Drake. He goes as the "Dude" around the dropzone and it is his picture you see with my postings. The dude totally digs dad's skydiving. He can spot me under both of my canopies. I also took him up for my first flying lesson, he digs flying too. I have the Dude Thursday thru Sunday night, so he is usually at the dz with me. Some parents get rugrats, I however am blessed with the "Dude".

Nope, no bambinos. Many nieces and nephews, though. Most of them call me the 'crazy auntie'. One niece really wants to try, the oldest nephew thinks it's cool but 'not in a million years will you ever ever get me in an airplane with less than a hundred seats, and under no condition will I get out until it has come to a complete stop.' The rest have just taken it in stride.
The littlest nephew (3 1/2) was at the dz when I made my first jump. When he saw me geared up he said, 'Auntie you look funny', and when I told him I was going to jump out of an airplane he said, 'Auntie, no! You hurt your knees!' ;)

Drake likes to work the babes too. He's got some serious game. He's always getting kisses and hugs from the babes. Showin' off his hotwheels, takin' um out to the swing set for a little slide action. He's the man!!!
