n2skdvn 0 #1 March 7, 2002 Sangiro,I would like to start out by thanking you for this great community you have helped create. When I first started skydiving in 1996 I didn’t have many recourses for learning.I used the web the best I could getting info here and there. I learned how to freefly through the net(I was the first person at my dz to go to the dark side)A few years went by and a few hundred jumps too, then last year I was checking out a site I had seen maybe once or twice .I was in north Carolina working living in a hotel.Decided to go to that web site . It had a new look!! Checked out the pub,the forumsThen decided to register. The date may 24,2001 I became a dz.comer !So here I am almost a year later. Looking back I have realized how this community has brought the skydiving world a little closer to me. I talk to people from all over the world.I have questions ,arguments, debates, agreements, ect with the people of dz.comI’ve seen this community console a jumper in time of need. I’ve seen them caution a jumper on safety issues. I’ve seen us laugh at our selves and others. Post funny jokes, picsAnd any thing you can think of. This site has become my link to the rest of the skydiving world. With out this site I would have never met some of the people I have met.Lets see there is skymonkeyone,canopycudler,jabeln79,skygeek,wingnut,ducky and a whole lot more. For that I thank you. This site has a lot of combined knowledge for the “newbie” skydiver. I wish that knowledge would have been there for me when I started, but I am glad that it is here for those starting out in this sport. I will share my knowledge with anyone who asks.In closing I want to say Thank You for this site ,this community ,this familyI hope you realize what it has done for so many.n2skdvnaka Kreg HoagIt's not the fall that kills you, it'ssudden deceleration syndrome. SkydiveMonkey 0 #3 March 7, 2002 Too right. Nice one HH. Keep it up so we can have lots of virtual beer and pics of boobies You shouldn't put a knife in the toaster - but you're an adult now !!!
skreamer 1 #4 March 7, 2002 Well said! Also, for the amount of work this guy puts in (which we do tend to take for granted) it would be nice if he got the occasional jump ticket bought for him. Have you all seen the pay pal link in the pub (top left)? This site is free, but I think the dude would really appreciate a JT or two.WillPS HH do I get commission for this shameless shmoozing??? Scratch 0 #5 March 7, 2002 I should hope so. It is pretty impressive
skreamer 1 #6 March 7, 2002 Oh yesDisclaimer : All third world citizens (this would mean you scratch) are exempt from ever having to buy HH a JT, since aforementioned JT (when purchased in a first world country) would cost more than it does to feed your village for a month.Happy now, my china?"Don't die until you're dead"

Magistr8 0 #11 March 7, 2002 SangiroI am new to the website and have even submitted a suggested fix for an issue that you were on top of right away. I wish some other web developers and site admins would learn a thing or 2 from you. It really takes a lot of work and dedication to put up , maintain, and administer a web site of this size. My hat goes off to you.Great jobWho ever said comming down from a high was bad obviously never tried this.Magistr8

I was going to buy HH a beer, but paypal says they're overloaded at the moment....Should we try to make hell freeze over and see if we can leave the word "boobies" out for awhile? ...... naahhhhhNever argue with stupid people. They just drag you down 2 their level & beat you with experience
hooked 0 #14 March 7, 2002 Great letter! This site has everything (except Boobies, Ha, had to say it). Sangiro you do a great job. The amount of information found here is sometime overwhelming, but the people here, now that's really a reason for coming here!J"I'd rather be skydiving". Michele 1 #16 March 7, 2002 I remember after my first jump, I decided to read more about skydiving (you think I'd've done that before I jumped, but no, it's me...).I spent hours (days?) reading back threads, information, occasionally posting, but mostly interested in the workings of skydiving, and the people in it. Then comes jump #3. And the mal. And the cutaway. And all that advice. And I landed safely (crying and screaming the entire time). Came home, posted, and lost my composure, went to bed. Came back, and read the replies. All the support. All the "right on's". All the help. The phone call from Albi. The hand-holding. Then the next jump. And the congratulations, the support, the genuine happiness of other people that I got out the door again. And then the rest of the student jumps. And all that other stuff in the interim. And the handholding in the solo days. And...and...and all th other things which confused me, scared me, made me happy...all were shared here, and answers received, information gotten, and long-term friends made. I wouldn't be jumping without this site, the information, and the people on it. Sangiro, thank you for bringing me the sky. Ciels and Pinks-MicheleIf you really want to, you can seize the day; if you really want to, you can fly away...~enya~

canopycudler 0 #20 March 8, 2002 I'm with ya!! Cheers to this site! It is so awsome that all of us share this incredible bond.. and being able to go to places and make jumps with the people that we talk to each and every day is incredible... like Kreg was saying...at Mardi Gras Boogie.. there we were.. sitting on a CASA load at about 3K.. I was sitting across from Jabeln79 (Joe) and Gulfcoastxtreme (Clark) when I decided to ask (Joe noticed it and we were thinking but weren't sure) anyway.. I said to the guy across from me.. "are you on dz.com" he smiled and said "I'm WINGNUT".... then several voices followed " I'M DUCKY" ... "IM SKYGEEK" I'M N2SKDVN" "I'M CANOPYCUDLER" ... I'M GULFCOASTXTREME" I'M JABELN79"...... and from there... the Magic Carpet ride was created. I think the favorite Picture I have is the one with all of us in the back of that CASA! It really was a Kodak moment.. hehe.I think its great that all of us can learn from each other on here.. thats the wonderful thing about this sport.. you can never have it all figured out.. somebody has a suggestion that might make your world just a little easier (like leaving the center cell open on the Omega when packing .. Thanks to all of you for making me smile when i'm not in the air and hats off to you Sangiro.. !!Busses here don't work. I am an asshole. ...Tina
diverdriver 6 #21 March 8, 2002 I think it's called synergy. Where the sum of the parts is greater than the individual pieces. Did I say that right? We get a lot more because of this place. Thanks Sangiro.Chris Schindler

Ducky 0 #24 March 8, 2002 My turn?First off, I must agree with what evryone has said here and add my Thanx to Sangiro. Its quite an impressive place around here. I first logged on shortly after my first jump and have been back daily ever since. I have learned from everyone here, the expertise or their questions have helped to satisfy my quest for knowledge and information.I have met and had the pleasure of jumping with several people from DZ.com, including Kreg that started this thread and two other who posted in this thread. It was an amazing weekend I will never forget, a Boogie I would not have known about if it weren't for this site. Ya know it's crazy ya talk to a guy a few times on here (kreg), then ya meet him around the bonfire at a Boogie the next week and he let's ya crash in his camper, and I don't even have BOOBIES! I have to say the chance meeting of Tina and her gang on the Casa was a classic. The frootloop courtesy of Wingnut on that jump was some crazy shiat! Ahhh and the Magic Carpet Ride I laugh my ass off everytime I think about it!!!btw Tina I attatched the pic from Mardi Gras of the DZ.com gang you were referring to...Nuff said I suppose, Thanks Sangiro!kwakStupidity is a crime.
