hooked 0 #27 March 6, 2002 This has been discussed before but oh well! I've always wanted to "fly"to be up in the sky with the birds and to know freedom. For the sheer joy and freedom and to be honest, to let everyone else know who I really am!!J"The only things you'll ever regret are the ones you were too afraid to try". rhino 0 #28 March 6, 2002 At first the idea of flying.. I always wanted to be a fighter pilot.. I think this is the next best thing. But soon after I started it became the people.. I jump now just as much to hang out with good people as I do for the thrill.. Maybe close to just as much.. :)Blue Skies and Smooth Rides!! http://www.aahit.com
bill2 0 #29 March 6, 2002 I can remember as a kid, leaning out of a window high up in a building and wondering what it would be like to jump out and fly. Now I've done it, and I love it. I always wanted to be in some sort of aviation activity for a hobby. I tried hang gliding, like it and got my first level of certification. But I like sky diving a lot more. ChromeBoy 0 #34 March 7, 2002 Quote What made you want to jump As a Outdoorsman and Adventurer I tried to experience all that I could. I grew up around backpacking, camping, whitewater rafting, mountain biking, sports, music and anything else that would keep me entertained. As a child I remember seeing skydivers on the television and I told myself that I would do that oneday. I was at work thinking about how I needed a new hobby because all I ever did was work and continue the hobbies I grew up with.I went online and found the closest dropzone. Talked my friend into going with me and I was going to be in freefall for the first time. I completed my first, second, I got off student status, I completed my C License, I...The best part, besides the adreneline, is the family of skydivers you give yourself too. They become your closest friends. They become you family. Kachink,ChromeBoy-Mirage G3 Unisyn-
MrHixxx 0 #35 March 7, 2002 I have always been afraid of heights, but loved flying. I simply had to conquer the fear, but also experience the elation of flying. My little sister bought me 3 tandems when I went down to Pensicola for her Winging at the Naval base.First jump: tandem sunset demo jump, onto the white sandy beaches of Perdido Key into the Florabama bar and grill. How could you not become a skydiver after that and still claim to have a soul!!!-Hixxx"Sous ma tub, Dr. Suess ma tub"
algboy 0 #36 March 7, 2002 Son of a pilot and fascinated with anything aviation related. I remember reading any book I could find on the sport even back in junior high. I'm really dating myself, but my first jump was in `76 at college. For me, though, it was a combination of fascination, my adventure-craving nature, rebellion and expressing my freedom (2500 miles from M&D at college in LA). Parents said "no way" so it's "off-to-jump-today" . . . . I especially like the "realness"--the sensual experience--of the skydiving experience. Life is NEVER as interesting as when someone shouts "DOOR!" and the reality kicks you in the butt. ALL the senses get a workout, too: motion, sound, sight, smell--even taste (cottonmouth/biley taste). And when you hit the ground and bundle up that chute, well, life just about can't get any better!"You're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on." Skystorm 0 #37 March 7, 2002 When I was a kid my mom gave me pajamas with the slogan : Anything boys can do, girls can do better!!Over here there's mainly just male skydivers, so I wanted to get into skydiving just to see why women don't do it. Got hooked, still am the only female in my club. (Keep the jokes to yourself!!!!)And I'm scared to death of heights!!!Hang onto Heaven, when hell is on your back

Iflyme 0 #39 March 8, 2002 Quote Two friends, Mikie and Alison. Alison wanted to make a skydive for her birthday, so Mikie called up a Drop Zone Actually, your storyis similar to mine ... me and a buddy had been casually talking about skydiving for about 10 years, then one day someone at his workplace was going for a birthday present ... he got invited to go, invited me and my brother ... and the rest, as they say, is history! Of course, the most jumps any of them did was 2. Me? I was HOOKED immediately! And now I'm working on a thousand jumps... on 870 or so to go!
SpeedRacer 1 #40 March 8, 2002 Quote there's mainly just male skydivers, so I wanted to get into skydiving just to see why women don't do it. what the hell 're you talking about. At my home dropzone we got Carol Clay who is a fuckin' LEGEND and has been jumping since 1969, but will still invite a newbie like me on her 4-ways....she rocks!! she is what skydiving is all about..no attitudes, just fun!! Oh, and by the way, if you think chicks "don't do it", I'd like to point out here that Carol Clay has over 14,000 jumps!!!!!Speed Racer"Fill your hand, you son-of-a-bitch!" DZDale 0 #46 March 8, 2002 Well for me it started as a childhood dream at about the age of 5, I always wanted to be a (army parachutist). When I eventually did reach military service I decided rather to take up sports parachuting as it involved freefall, squares etc. I went to the local DZ did a static line course and slowly but surely progressed to my current level. If theres one thing that makes me tick, its skiydiving. To cross that threshhold into the open Sky....Well Im sure you all agree that theres no better feeling. ScottishJohn 25 #48 March 8, 2002 It's something i've always wanted to try and last year on a trip to PA I summoned up the nerve to do a tandem. One month later i'm in a Let 410 with my 2 AFF instructers at Hinton skydive centre on my way to learning how to skydive. The best bit about skydiving is the people you meet. JumpinJohn 0 #49 March 8, 2002 I made my first jump last semester cause I really wanted to experience flight in a way I never had before. After my first jump I was stoked. I started hanging out with the others members of my college club and we watch alot of skydiving movies. Watching guys like Troy Hartman, Rob Harris, and Patrick (I am not even gonna try to spell his last name) really motivates me. To get to the level they are at (or were at R.I.P. guys) is the ultimate pursuit. Now every time I jump I just get more and more excited about skydiving! I can't wait till my rig gets here! Only a few more weeks!
