Emmie 0 #1 March 1, 2002 Just watched the news and had to vent. They just showed a story where some sick fucks hung a dog by its own leash from a tree. I had tears in my eyes. The dog belonged to a disabled elderly man, and ran off when taking a walk, well someone found it and just killed it, hung it off a branch by it's own leash and watched it suffocate to death. The tree had claw marks from its trying to free itself. Earlier this year in the same town someone tied another dog's legs with duck tape, and threw it in the river. I can't even comprehend how a human being can do something so aweful. People like that should have been shot at birth.

Zennie 0 #3 March 1, 2002 I forget where I read it, but a very large number of violent criminals had a previous history of being cruel to animals. They get desensitized to animals suffering and pretty soon human suffering is no big deal either. lummy 4 #4 March 1, 2002 Yeah, I remember reading something about that as well. I believe the studies showed that most serial killers had abused animals before moving on to humans. Beachbum 0 #11 March 1, 2002 Have the same feeling ... a friend of mine lives in an area where a lot of dogs are just dropped off (abandoned) and they end up at the pound, which can only keep them for so long before they're put down if homes aren't found for them .... I think they need to catch the folks doing the dropping and put THEM to sleep ... bet the rate of abandonments would drop drastically.

SniperCJ 0 #13 March 1, 2002 In the criminal psychology world its called the big 3 in reference to serial killers: bed wetting (at an unusual age), fire setting, and animal abuse. Serial killers often demonstrate these 3 things somewhere in their past.Im with you all the way on the animal abuse. Its kinda funny, Ive been a police sniper for 10 years and have long ago resolved in my mind that I may someday be called on to take a shot on some asshole. And I know I can do it without hesitation, but shooting an animal bugs me.Hmmmm, maybe I'M the serial killer...JC
freeflir29 0 #14 March 1, 2002 "shooting an animal bugs me."Yeah...I'm even getting to that point. I used to be an avid hunter. Last deer I shot was in 2000. After 10 years in the military I kind of lost my stomache for killing animals. People now...there are plenty of those that need to be killed...."I only have a C license, so I don't know shit..right?"-Clay
christopherm 0 #15 March 1, 2002 This is friggin hilarious, the world has come to the point where it is easier for people to kill humans than other animals. Don't get me wrong, I'm an avid believer that the piss needs to be cleaned out of the world's gene pool, but c'mon... It's like my little brother loves watching shoot'em up movies and seeing the shit get blown out of someone but when little cartoon Poochy dies, he is on the verge of tears. Animals are animals, humans are alpha. Don't let the animals' cuteness sway you from that fact. Solving the pet problem is easy, you get a fine if you have a dog, etc. that isn't spaid or neutered. You have to have a license to breed the pets and that way they don't continue to become overpopulated. If you are responsible enough to care for an animal, than do it right, just get them fixed.-I've got a tricked out speed machine that takes me from 0-120 in 6.0... GRAVITY! freeflir29 0 #18 March 1, 2002 "Good point Clay"Yeah...I haven't seen any "Evil" animals lately. Now...I do tend to avoid bears and Mountain lions. They can be kinda nasty if you catch them on the wrong day. I will probably always hunt. It's just not as much fun as it used to be for me. I do find many species of animal quite tasty though...I have a patch laying around somewhere...it says "Somali Hunting Club" on it..... freefallfreak 0 #19 March 1, 2002 Emmie,I tried and tried to not post to this cause I feel that, as an animal lover (no Clay, not that kind), I get too wound up over issues like this one...but I can't just sit by and not post...Girl, where I live here in SC, we have a swamp...full of hungry gators...and I am not above placing small bits of human remains into the waters to feed them...I am not saying I have ever done this before! I AM saying, however, that I am not adverse to this action, if and when the idiot, asshole, cocksucking, son-of-a-bitching, whore-mongering, whimpy, ball-less, bastard is ever stupid enough to step into the range of my .270. Make no mistake here. I don't condone killing indescriminately. But I also don't have enough respect for a human life to NOT take it, if and when it is sensely doing things like you wrote about. Threads like this wind me up, big time, to the point that some people (like me) just might go off on idiots. Just last month we had a guy leave three horses to starve, instead of calling someone for help, when he couldn't afford to feed the animals. Needless to say, he got the absolute shit beat out of him after he was found and the horses were taken care of. This asshole doesn't live here anymore. So, now that I'm wound up like a two dollar whore at a ten dollar convention, I'll leave this thread and my computer for a while to calm down. Sorry for the rant, people. I just can't stand idiots and have no tolerance for punks. TripleF "If you have something vital and it's sincere, you can communicate." christopherm 0 #22 March 1, 2002 Ok, i'm serious again. I am just going to come out and say it no matter how many people want to hate my argument. It just makes me want to puke when I here people giving a higher value to animals live than to human lives. If this is really what you believe, I'm sure damn glad I don't know you. Tell me you haven't stepped on an ant before, put salt on a slug, hunted, ate hamburger before. When is ok and not ok to kill animals? If not then I can accept your animal rights freakishness. By all means, what they did to that dog and what happened to the horses was terrible and the people who did it deserve to be jailed... but really... death? Think about it, it's like saying that someone who just murders someone is ok, but someone who tortures that person should be punished. Your literally saying the same thing. 1000's of cows are slaughtered daily but nothing has been said about it. Who here eats meat? That's what I thought.-I've got a tricked out speed machine that takes me from 0-120 in 6.0... GRAVITY!
skycat 0 #23 March 1, 2002 I think the reason most people get upset about what happened to the dog in the original post is the pure cruelty of it. I'm from ND and I've have been deer and duck hunting, but I understand why this is done especially the deer. To many deer mean destruction of farmland and with most of their natural predators having been killed in the past, it's now up to us to regulate their numbers. Plus in those cases we also eat the animal, in general it doesn't go to waste. Now take little fluffy who was hung up, it was the senselessness of the act, the killing for the pure pleasure of it. It's very easy to see that act being done to a human, so it outrages people. Also that dog was probably that owners best friend and maybe only companion, it has been a proven fact that animals help people enrich peoples lives, now that man is alone and might not have the ability to raise another puppy. This is why therapy animals are so successful in hospitals and nursing homes, you would be amazed at the ability of some animals to sense what a human needs. You might say well he shouldn't have let the dog get away, the thing is here in the Houston area in the last year there have been a lot of dogs stolen from backyards. It was on the news how one neighborhood had 10 dogs come up missing in the course of a week. I doubt they all ran away.I'm a strong advocate of spaying and neutering, I have both a cat and a dog and both are fixed and have been from the 2nd week that I got them. Both were also rescued adult animals, so I've seen pounds and I know how hard it is to place some of those animals especially the older ones. So putting them down in that case might actually be more humane than letting them live in little 4x7 cages. No one wants to see anyone or anything suffer, and that is all that animal did for the last few min of its life was suffer. I hope they find whoever did it, because he/she might be killing animals now, but they will definitely move on to more exciting "prey".
christopherm 0 #24 March 1, 2002 You have a good point as far as the senselessness of it goes. That's why I think jail time would be could, maybe a few minutes with Buba would make him grow up. But death is just to much and anyone who thinks such is lacking the basic human thought process and is no better than the boy that did this.-I've got a tricked out speed machine that takes me from 0-120 in 6.0... I've never put salt on a slug. I don't hunt and have never killed an animal (except human ones, and you can make book on that). Cows are killed humanely in overseen packing plants, with as little pain as possible. Been there, seen that.Quotedeath?I imagine I've seen more death than you could envision, and most of the time it didn't bother me. Of course, I don't know what you have seen or experienced, so I can't say that as a fact. I do, however, know what it takes to sight down the barrel of a weapon and pull the trigger.
