I'm a freak of nature!

Recommended Posts

I am at least in the world of container manufacturers. Apparently I have a longer torso measurement than most people. Yep, put me next to the bearded lady at the circus. Here's my poor luck so far:
Container #1: Custom Infinity. I think I would have had better luck going to a local place, than sending off my measurements. It was long enough for me, but the shoulders were so wide on it, that it gave me bruises on my biceps. Not an attractive look! I put 60 jumps on it and sold it.
Container #2: Medium size stock Racer. I got a good price on it, so I went for it. It seemed ok when I put it on without canopies in it, but totally went into my crotch with the canopies in it. We changed it to narrow leg pads, and it still didn't help much. There were adjustments I could have done to it, but I felt like I was having bad karma with it, so I asked for a refund today. Put a total of 5 jumps on it.
Potential Container #3: Walked over to Relative Workshop to look at the stock containers which actually come with an unfinished harness. Great, I thought, this will work. Put on the stock Vector 3....it's still too short, and the shoulders could still come in a little. So, now the consensus is that I need a totally custom rig for sure, which means now I have nothing to put my canopies in.
I'm on my third container in a year. This is pathetic!

Well, you're not the only one that seems outside the norm. The only full face I've found that fits me at all is the FP1 XXL - and even that one smashes my nose into my face.

I'm suprised that didn't work out - Jump Shack usually does a great job fitting odd sizes. They are who I recommend to unusually small or skinny women.

Ummm, Bill, see, when I usually say something similar to this to a woman they get all upset because I have just inferred that they aren't (skinny or small) because of course the that they got from that place didn't fit... just a little coaching for you :)

Go for the custom rig. It will fit much better in the long run. I had mine measured and done by SunPath. It may just be one off the shelf, but the fit was perfect. Vector should be able to do the same thing.
:::OK, Canopy is Open, No Traffic Around, .. Why are these "Extra" Lines Draping Down??, Damn!

Well, you got me beat on that one Bill, but my head is pretty big too...24"...that's the size of some women's waists! We have to have some place to put all those brains we have, huh Bill? :D

Fortunately I don't have to worry about such things any more. I gave up trying to figure out whether women want to be seen as tall, short, thin, athletic, cute, smart etc. and just call them as I see them. May not make me the hit of the party, but if their rig ends up fitting better as a result, I figure that's a good thing.

Right! At least, that's what I keep telling people when they ask me why my nose is touching the faceplate.
Actually, considering the number of times I've run into things when I was a kid and was OK, maybe all that extra stuff in there is padding, not brain . . .

BTW Andrea is a hottie

A true friend...always the first to build me up, but also the first to cut me down at other times!
I think if I had the Racer NOS rig, it would have been better, but this one was a 2000 one I think. It had a wider yoke with the chest strap right across my boobs, so when I chiched it up, that was a major problem also.

Ok.....I'm 5''7 and 120lbs. Long torso and wider shoulders (swimmer) with a damn small waist. I bought a mirage and it was well worth it. I really got tired of being slammed by the dam containers and bruises all over. Don't know if that helps you at all, but I sure hope so. Good Luck.
It only takes a little pixie dust......

If you're short and skinny there is only one custom made rig that will REALLY fit you always - the Vortex II.
When I remember right, it's originally built by a small and skinny woman who didn't want to wear too big and uncomfy rigs anymore...
Just my 2 cents ;-))
