Houston or Dallas

Recommended Posts

Lets take a vote. Which is 1. A better city to live in 2. Has the best DZ's associated with it. 3. Has the highest per capita of available hotties.
It's a long shot but I'm trying to figure out which is a better choice. Miami or Texas. I'm really leaning towards Texas at the moment because of cost of living and the fact that everyone seems to hate Miami. What's your thoughts?

Neither. Try Austin instead. Houston = too crowded Dallas = too pretentious
1. I used to live in Austin, and absolutely loved every minute of it. The people and the music really make the town. I've never been anywhere that quite has the "feel" of Austin. My sister just moved from Austin to Dallas and hates it. Houston just has way too much of everything (people, attitude, crime) for me. My stepsister lives in Miami, and everyone hates her. So there you go, Austin it is.
2. IMHO Austin (SSM) or Houston; all three have otters, but SDD just didn't do it for me. Austin is in closer proximity to the other two than they are to each other in case the wx is bad, or you feel like driving to a different dz. SSM's otter is a fast, comfortable ride to alt., and the people out ther kick ass.
3. Austin, period. Dallas and Houston have lots of hotties, but you said per capita. Austin has five different colleges, and around 100,000 college students. Given this fact and that it is considerably smaller than Dallas or Houston, it makes sense that there's a better ratio.
4. And the last, but certainly not the least reason to choose Austin is LESLIE!!

Unfortunately Austin wasn't on the list my hopefully new employer provided. Dallas or Houston was but I can live up to 2 hrs drive from the airport of either. So...I'm sure that will let me get out into the country side a little.

Clay,
I have a ranch near Houston and I am there a couple of times a year. It seems to be a pretty cool city and I "hear" the dz is cool although aIthough I have never been there. Been to Dallas a couple of times and it was alright too. But personally I like Houston better.

I used to live in Houston and I just recently moved to Dallas.....cost of living wise for apartments - Houston is your better bet....Skydive Spaceland (South Houston) has an Otter and Waller (North Houston) has an Otter....as for Dallas I have only jumped at Skydive Dallas (1 hour North of Dallas) they have an Otter and a Caravan. I have jumped all three DZs and like all three DZs for different reasons.....depends what you are looking for.......

I just moved back to Houston after living in NY for 8 years. You can't beat the cost of living here. I'm loving it. The dropzones out here are great, Skydive Spaceland is growing fast... this summer should set some records. Dallas just gets too damned cold in the winters. Come on to Houston!

"Houston...Boobies, Flying, Skydiving"
Sounds good to me!!! I'm still going to put in for Atlanta as a first choice just because most of my family is here. Texas will be after that with Miami coming in dead last in the top 4!!!!

Nope...just going to the airport....

you'll still want to consider traffic ... getting to either airport anywhere close to rush hour can be a real pain ... would definitely use some care in deciding just where to live relative to that ... anywhere you can hit the toll road works pretty well still, but try to avoid having to use I-45 (for Intercontinental ... oops ... BUSH Intercontinental, that is) ... Hobby (the airport south of town) .. well .. not really any GOOD ways when traffic is going

Yep I live in spring, which is in North Houston and it takes me like 20 min (used to be 45) to get to the airport via the hardy toll road, now that they built the new little toll road that goes from hardy and bascially drops you off in front of the airport life is sweet for the quick weekend trips out of town. Actually it kind of sucks since I can work until 4 (no more sneaking out at 3) and still make a 6:30 flight, or could anyway before 9-11.

"Damn, and I was SO ready to show you my boobs when you got here!"
I don't know...it's just that I think my work would be cool in Miami but the cost of living associated with that place is crazy!!!! I would be getting a "Cost of Living" allowance but I doubt 8-10% would make that much difference. There is still the point of my job. I think it would probably be better travel destinations from Miami. Who knows....I don't fill out that paper work until I get hired so I still have time to think about it. Atlanta will still be my first choice.......I just want to know what to put on the next couple slots after that.
