Slappie 9 #1 February 22, 2002 Curious to see how many of you fellow jumpers would be interested in meeting at the WFFC this year...I'm looking into travel rates already... from Houston flying I'm looking at close to $1000 for airfare, car rental and ect.. to fly into Chicago O`Hare...... Anyone got any ideas? I'm thinking it would be cheaper to drive and carry my camping gear then try to fly in and all the hassles of checking baggage ect.. Give me your thoughts...My New Website with 24hr Chat
PhreeZone 20 #2 February 22, 2002 Don't book tickets yet... the thing could easly fall though...www.Freefall.com has'nt posted official details of it yet so for all we know, this was speculative journalism at its best.....Cause I don't wanna come back down from this cloud... ~ Bush

AndyMan 7 #4 February 22, 2002 Slappie,I think you would have no trouble finding people in Chicago (like me) willing to drive you from Chicago to the WFFC.I usually check my camping gear when I fly with it. Bring minimal stuff. Tent, sleeping bag, airmatress, clothes. Travel light. When you're here, you can buy a styrofoam cooler at Wallmart, for example. I usually carry my skydiving gear when I fly with it, because of the insurance limitations._AmICQ: 5578907MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
PhreeZone 20 #5 February 22, 2002 Slappie, also look into St. Louis, Indy or Midway. St Louis or Indy are still 2 hour drives at least, but they might save you a ton on airfare. Midway could save a ton over O'hare with a few airlines...Cause I don't wanna come back down from this cloud... ~ Bush
Pammi 0 #6 February 22, 2002 Quotefrom Houston flying I'm looking at close to $1000 for airfarePhew! Doesn't leave much jumpin' money...get a group together and take turns driving, even pay for one night motel halfway or something...it's not so bad :) Closing pin jewelry
Slappie 9 #7 February 22, 2002 Cheapest rates to fly from Houston to Chicago O`Hare... Midway is more.. is close to $675 for two people. To rent a cheapo car is $200 for 10 days... I can drive and save probably $400 and have all my gear, see the sites on the way and still be there a good 8 days... Got the GF to drive during the day and I'll drive at night.. I hate driving during the day.. Then I have everything I need and more when I get there. So I'm tossing it back and forth. Like I said this is just to see "What Prices Are"My New Website with 24hr Chat
kevin922 0 #8 February 22, 2002 Uhm.. why you guys talking about flying into all those places when Springfield is only 100 miles from the proposed WFFC site?
PhreeZone 20 #9 February 22, 2002 Because flying into smaller airports usually cost more....Cause I don't wanna come back down from this cloud... ~ Bush
AndyMan 7 #10 February 22, 2002 If you look around, Southwest, ATA, etc. You should be able to find houston to midway for $200 or less each.Remember Southwest isn't on Travelocity or Orbitz._AmICQ: 5578907MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

skycat 0 #12 February 22, 2002 Well here was the deal for couchfreaks last year. We rented and RV between the 10 of us (year before I it was 9) it was $250 a person which included gas for I think 7 days, give or take a day. It was definately the way to go, not everyone wanted to stay in the RV, only night that happened was the first night/morning when we arrived cause it was raining. Other than that 5 of us slept in tents the rest of the time. It was all done very sexist....the boys had to drive and the girls cooked. It worked out great, packing tent set up in front of the RV, and tents all around, with a Texas flag flying high in the middle. Oh and trust me we were like true texans and made a homestead.
