Monk 0 #1 February 17, 2002 I know I have been gone from both DZ.com and the DZ for a long time, but #1 I need to vent....and #2 I need some imput. Some of you know me well enough to help and some of you I don't which means you prolly will be objective. It all started with Sept 11. Dropzones were shut down all across the country. I was still flying so I was better off than most of my pilot friends, but no jumping. Slowly things started to turn back to normal. Jumping again...flying every day and making money. However my employer (a Belgian company) was not doing well. They were going bankrupt. This meant that my job in the States was severely at risk but things were still moving along well for me. One of the students ( the most beautiful girl in the world) was coming back from Belgium to the States to finish her training. We always had this kind of thing going on between us. But because of the professional relationship we never went beyond shameless flirting. Then the writing was on the wall. The States side of the company was going to go under. But I was still going to be ok. I had an opportunity to take a higher position and better paying position at a non-competing States side company. So I decided to take it. It certainly seemed like the right thing to when: #1) That company laid off over half the very next day after I left and#2) That girl called me the very next day and wanted to go out.So now that I wasn't working there there was no conflict of interest so we started going out.Life was perfect. I narrowly escaped being furloughed. Got a higher position and was now dating the girl of my dreams. Ever want to make God laugh? Make a plan!So now the fun really begins. The new job sucks. I'm doing way more management and paperwork than flying. The drive to work is 100 miles round trip. In rush our it takes me 1 hour 40 minutes one way. Ok...no big deal at least I still had Sophie...right?Well...she springs something on me. She was dating one of the former students for about a year...but then they ended the relationship, but then right before she came back to the States she started seeing him for about a month. I think...ok...not a big deal. So I ask her what she wants to do. She says she wants to be with me because she was only back with him for a month and wanted to be with me. So we decided we would get married in about 7 months. Well VERY long story short....I now hate my job and she says she loves me but the other guy is causing too many problems back home and she needs "time to think and concentrate on flying". Well her flying certainly comes first so I say "Ok...if it will help I will step out of the picture". She said she thinks that will be the best for now. Damn! So I think it's over...however she keeps calling back because she loves me...but the situation back home she can't fix. So again...hate my job and now the fiance thing has turned into a fucking Jerry Springer show. I say I fucking move to California and find a new job and just be a beach bum for a year and cut all losses. What do you think I should do?#1) Cut all losses and strings and move to So. Cal. and be a beach and skydiving bum#2) Fight for her and marry her in Sept. and stay at the present job because it pays the bills#3) You come up with a different solution.Sorry for the whining and venting...But I need an outside opinion.Monk

She ended up hurting me pretty bad when it was all said and done, I should have seen the writting on the wall and walked but didn't. Eventually did but the damage had been done. Now, I'm glad that I walked and only regretted not doing it sooner, its amazing how eventually you'll find someone absolutely amazing, even after you had thought that you had found that person once before.
