theotherone 0 #1 April 28, 2014 Hi all, This is a quick question for those with racer experience: I bought my first container last fall (used), and I contacted Jump Shack to make sure it would work with the canopies I had. It’s a racer classic and the main is USSB (475 c.i.), and the reserve is QSB (475 c.i.). After they confirmed it would fit, I had a Raven II reserve installed in the reserve compartment and a Spectre 190 in the main compartment. I’ll admit that I was a bid naïve when I asked them about the fitment. I figured that “it fits” meant that the reserve would be a breeze to pack for the rigger and open in a few hundred feet when asked to do its job. Now, after doing some reading on the forums, it seems that having reserves on the tight side is a bad call. My question: do you agree that this is an appropriate reserve/container combination? I would like to plan for the worst, which would be a Vigil fire at less than 1,000 feet. Also, I have seen a lot of racers holding the same canopy combination with much larger container volumes. I also planned on testing the bag extraction force on the next repack. Thanks!

RiggerLee 61 #3 April 28, 2014 Of all the containers out there a racer classic is probable one of the least affected by size related compatibility issues. I wouldn't sweet it. Your rigger is probable just bitching because it's a racer. That fact alone is enough to make some riggers bitch and whine about packing it. Tight rigs suck. But with this particular design I think your more likely to physically damage the container by over stuffing it before you compromise it's function. And that is possible. There are stiffeners, grommets, seams on that container that do not take well to being over stuffed strained during packing. But as ugly as those peace's of shit are the one thing I think you can count on with them is that they will open on time. JeffCa 0 #4 April 28, 2014 theotherone...I contacted Jump Shack to make sure it would work with the canopies I had.... After they confirmed it would fit My experience with Jump Shack has taught me that they are really passionate about the issue of reserves not coming out when they're needed. They go on about it more than any other manufacturer does. If they told you it would be OK and did not qualify it with a "probably" or "but", I'd say you'll be fine. You are correct: If you can get it in it will come out. But it sure is ugly when it is overstuffed. The pilot chute has enough drag to toss you around the sky. The container has no top corners to catch the bag Racer, because it works...
