Skydiving in the Olympics?

Little does he know its more like the bishops daughters and the 3.2% piss water!!!

I was listening to one of the morning talk shows and one listener was saying that to get mixed drinks, you have to belong to a "private" club and a double is like $20 or something.
Terri, when you hear my bag clanging, don't worry, it's just the "entertainment"
Still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest....

Yeah most bars out here you have to be a member or pay like 5$ to get into. Its kinda bullshit but what you going to do? The mix drink thing I dont know about. However I was at a local resturant once and ordered a mixed drink and then ordered a beer and when the waitress brought it out she said she couldnt set it on the table until the mix drink was gone so I had to slam it to get my beer. Some thing about only being able to have a certain % of alcohl in front of you. Then at another resturant [cough]applebees[cough] if you want to drink at the bar you HAVE to order an appitizer or something to eat!!!

Actually last year was the first skydiving event (I think it was in Japan) allowed to use the Olympic rings. This is the first step into making it as an official Olympic sport. In the '80's people were saying the same thing about snowboarding. As popularity increases I think it may happen. But do you really want that, be careful what you wish for!

not going to happen...
Norman kent and friends did the rings jump in the 80's... got us nowhere.....
Has every one already forgotten the xgames slap in the face: HELL we're either to dangerous or too low a ratings figure to make it in a 2nd tier media event.....
And I agree, carefull what you whish for....

like i said previously, screw the olympics. it's a big, bloated snorefest composed of overpaid 'amateur' athletes where the winner is from the country that a) invest the money in facilities and coaches and train their athletes full time, b) hire/lure the athletes from countries that do or c) have the scientific abilites to dope their athletes and mask the evidence.
lets have our own skydiving olympics!

We do -- it's called the World meet and in 2003 will be held in Gap, France. They are held every other year. Then there are the World Air Games -- that was the event in Japan. At that event there were all kinds of "air" related competitions.
FWIW... I hear the IOC is reviewing skydiving this fall.

WHile i think the popularity of the sport has something to do with whether it could ever be in the olympics, i dont think its as important as it was in the x-games. i mean, if it was all about popularity with audiences, how the hell is curling in the olympcis, or ballroom dancing in the summer games?
i for one would like to see skydiving in the olympics for the exposure, and because seeing freeflying or 4 way or swooping on prime-time TV would be freakin cool. Other than that it will be the same as the other skydiving comps with airspeed or the golden knights winning rw, and rook and olav or the flyboyz winning freefly like it always is.
One thing i like about this sport that other sports dont have is the fact that any of us can get coaching (yeah, you gotta pay for it) from the best in the sport. I mean, think about being able to get basketball lessons from Micheal Jordan or playing catch with Derek Jeter.

i doubt it will be because ppl like gold for one and to get that you need to train full time how many countrys could afford to bother training potentiel skydivers just remeber the ppl competing arnt the only ones on the pay role all the up and comers are also getting payed to train to make it worth while including coaches regardless of which aspect was chosen youd prob need a caravan at min youd want to be doen at least 10 jumps on most day this all ads up and is very expensive
2nd its not a people doable sport anyone can go out and run or skate or snowboard etc they may not be any good but they can do it to jump you have to go through training. hell you could even do syncronised swimming if you want,
basicly it is never going to happen cause its to expensive and not easily doablle for the average person..........base jumping on the other hand lol
(o):P(o) i got a iq of 189 so there :P
