Skyrose7 0 #4 February 11, 2002 No jumping here, it's crappy.... I did, however, go to a wine party (tried to act cultured, but apparently most wine drinkers don't have chugging contests, who knew?). Today I bought a gear bag for only $17!!! That, I believe, was the highlight of my weekend. So saaaad....The mind is like a parachute--it works better when it is open. JUMP. MiataDRM 0 #5 February 11, 2002 Lets see....I went to the DZ Sat...Opened up 2 miles out @ 3k over the forest! I landed off, but at least I was back at the airport...too bad it was marshy! I got to jump 3 more times...did my firssssss......"best" (successful) 2 way sit. Sunday came along and I replaced the shockes on my car & I love the way it rides again! With all this in mind...the truth of the matter is that I have to be up in 6 hours to start another week of work. To long for a clear sky weekend **I'm a Pschydiver!Majdi
PhreeZone 20 #6 February 11, 2002 Well.. I returned to the sky after a month off due to injury . First landing was ... uh interesting. Turned into a shin drag instead of a toe drag but it felt so good to jump again.0:2:2 (First time forgetting to turn the camera on before jumping, first time I forgot to look at the zoom level before exit )Political Correctness - At least one person at any one time will be offended by something
AndyMan 7 #7 February 11, 2002 Saturday was a sunny 45 degrees in Chicago. I drove out to Morris, had a rigger inform me that I had some minor line issues with the install job on my new Stiletto, then did two jumps. Both jumps were from a 182. Morris had a King Air available, but only a 182 pilot. Doh!Anyways, first jump was a 7 point three way. Not great, but I dumped high to play with the new canopy.Second jump was a 0 point three way. At some time in the future I'll post a rant about freeflyers with 200 jumps that can't do BASIC RW work. I don't understand how someone can completely ignore a major part of skyding. All openings were beautifull. The fragility of the Stiletto's on heading openings will clearly take some getting used to, though.Had some serious ground rush after a 180 riser turn at 1000 feet. Diving straight down at a hanger is... interesting. Bags of altitude, so all in good fun.Sunday involved a early morning breakfast at Chicago's West Egg Cafe with an old friend, lunch at a different West Egg Cafe with an old co-worker, a wine tasting party at 3:00pm, then dinner with neighbours at a local restaurant.A good weekend._Am
Jumperpaula 0 #8 February 11, 2002 1:5:0 Saturday was windy , I had two pretty bad landings under my new Stilletto. Enough to keep me on the ground Sunday when winds were even stronger. Why chance it. My helmet came off on Deployment (Again, third time). Got it back screw broke, all fixed up. Sunset 21 way, beers at the Rabbit Hole. Fly Your Slot ! skybytch 273 #9 February 11, 2002 A pleasant drive out to the dz Saturday morning Carried my gear bag on to the drop zone, being battered by flying sand in 20+ mph winds. Put my gear bag down, talked to a couple people, picked my gear bag up, went back to car, drove home. Did laundry.Sunday went to several stores with my son searching for a sport coat for his trip back East. Found no sport coats that fit him, but did end up buying a new bed. pull and flare,lisa--What would Scooby Doo?
AggieDave 6 #10 February 11, 2002 Quote, being battered by flying sand in 20+ mph windsDid you not jump because of the sand or the wind? The first jump for me on Saturday was in 20-something mph winds, no biggy, since it really wasn't gusty. A little bumpy up top, but not bad once you got to the ground. Luckly I load just enough that I can penatrate those winds and have a nice very soft landing.Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most. skybytch 273 #11 February 11, 2002 QuoteDid you not jump because of the sand or the wind? I didn't jump because the dz was basically shut down due to those winds and the lack of visibility caused by the blowing sand/dirt and the forecast of gusts up to 75 mph. As it turned out they got a few loads up on Sunday before they had to shut down again for the same reason. Winds were clocked at over 100 mph in at least one place in San Bernadino yesterday, closed several major freeways in the area (one because a truck had blown over and it was too windy to pick it back up) and helped a brush fire south of here take out several houses and a fire truck.pull and flare,lisa--What would Scooby Doo? AggieDave 6 #14 February 11, 2002 Landing, hell, I'd just do a 180 riser carve down wind...I could swoop for 6 miles...or for 3 ft, then bounce and "swoop" for another 100yrds while people are chasing my limp body being draged by my canopy down the dz...Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most. thrillseek 0 #16 February 11, 2002 Mardi Gras Boogie was awesome this weekend! Weather was nice, winds were ok. Free beer and Margaritas really hit the spot, but you know skydivers....4 kegs and 4 cases of margarita mix won't last long... :)Right before my last load, some poor guy hooked in right in front of the spectator area... He got cut off in the air just prior to landing by a rather famous name...if anyone cares, pm me and i'll say who it was. At any rate, he's hurt bad, so if anyone cares to pray, it would be wise. It put a damper on the rest of the day...sold my last jump ticket back to manifest and drove 10 hours home.

scottbre 0 #22 February 11, 2002 I had a great weekend. 5 jumps.First 360First 2 way (it was unexpected, the guy was supposed to just be watching me try my turn, but after a really slow 360, he was all of a sudden docking on me. I bet I looked surprised.First intentional 2 wayFirst jump without a JMFirst spot completely on my own (landed right next to the truck too. It was perfect. )First figure 8First stupid move that almost resulted in first cutaway. (the winds had picked up considerably when we were in the air for the sunset jump, also the jump I spotted on my own. There was so much wind that the plane was just crawling into it. Anyway, under canopy at about 2k I started a spiral, but because of the wind, half my canopy collapsed and went one way while i started to twist the other way. Let my toggle up fast, didn't go into a spin, and flat turned it the rest of the way in.)Yea, I know, I owe like a keg for all that, but don't students get a reprieve or something? Slowfaller 0 #23 February 11, 2002 3:0:0 I drove half way down to Skydive Illinois on Saturday, stopped and got some food and realized it's do damn windy for me to be jumping at a DZ I've been to only once.
