SkydiveMonkey 0 #1 February 9, 2002 @~£%ing BRITISH WEATHER !!!! I was chatting to my CCI this morning and he was saying that it's the worst winter for jumping in about 30 years. This is just taking the piss now up. I think every jumper in the UK should move to the states or somewhere. my mind is like a canopy - 9 cells and I'm happy

FallinWoman 1 #7 February 10, 2002 QuoteJust to let you know, here in the mid-West United States (Ohio), it is going to be 54 tomorrow with mostly sunny skies. All I know is that i sat on the ground all day today watching the windsock do a crazy dance. The forecast was for 55 degrees, mostly sunny. The forecast for tomorrow just says windy. If they mention it in in the foecast, I KNOW it is gonna be too windy!Anne
Geoff 0 #8 February 10, 2002 Yep, it sucks - but I did manage 2 jumps this morning at Netheravon before it got too windy - and, Boy, did that feel good!Geoff
mountainman 0 #9 February 10, 2002 Actually Fallenwoman.....it got up to about 61 or so and was blue skies all day. It was a bit windy, but we got one jump in from the C182. Not a bad day!! Lots of good folks there too.Chao.JumpinDuo.com...come and sign the guestbook.
scottbre 0 #10 February 10, 2002 Speaking of windy, it was a pretty constant 12-15 where I jumped yesterday (Franklin, IN) and on the last jump of the day, the winds picked up considerably. I was doing my first completely on my own spot, and the plane was just inching into the wind. Anyway, once I was under canopy I learned something interesting about spiralling in strong winds. DON'T! Got half of a line twist at about 2k, realized what was happening and let up quickly but smoothly. Flat turns the rest of the way in. Learn something new, every jump I guess."Let the rabbits wear glasses. . . "
SpeedRacer 1 #11 February 10, 2002 ATTENTION SKYDIVERS IN THE UK:Troubled by too much rain? go get an electric fan & stick it in a window pointing west & turn it on. Blow all your rain clouds over here to Maryland, USA. We're under a drought warning right now.Speed Racer"Fill your hand, you son-of-a-bitch!"
SkydiveMonkey 0 #12 February 10, 2002 I'm planning on building a massive brick wall around my DZ about 13000 feet high so no wind / clouds can get in. Anyone want to help? You shouldn't put a knife in the toaster - but you're an adult now !!!

We're under a drought warning right now.Shut up, man! We don't want their nasty weather. I got five jumps in yesterday at Delmarva. It is the middle of February for gods sake. I don't care if we have global warming and a rain of frogs and lizards in Britain if I get nice days to jump in the middle of the winter. Sorry, Brits. You chose a country with good pubs and shitty weather. Justin

kingbunky 3 #18 February 11, 2002 .... could build a big dome like they had in 'the trueman show'... big ass dz-dome. "Jumping out of planes for the thrill of it all."-J.Geils Band
SkydiveMonkey 0 #19 February 11, 2002 I'm making it big enough that you can fly planes up to altitude. Or if your BASE inclined, there's going to be levels built onto the wall at regular intervals. Balloon jumps will also not be a problem as there is no wind !! You shouldn't put a knife in the toaster - but you're an adult now !!!
AggieDave 6 #20 February 11, 2002 Then the only wind would be relative wind. Just make it a big ass wind tunnel, then you could get 4 or 5 minutes of freefall instead of just 1 or so.Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.
SkydiveMonkey 0 #21 February 11, 2002 But it's not the same as freefall though. Never been in a tunnel but I like the whole experience. Besides, there's a brick wall at the edge of the universe so they can't be that bad. ) You shouldn't put a knife in the toaster - but you're an adult now !!! kingbunky 3 #22 February 11, 2002 i'm thinking we could get away without a plane. picture this, a rail that start on one side, goes all the way up the inside of the dome and comes down on the far side. you build a cart of some sort that rides the rail (capacity is adjustable to simulate different aircraft) and then launch it along the rail at an appropriate speed. spotting would be easy, you just jump out as it approaches the peak of the dome. that way, you get the sensation of jumping out of a plane without a plane. a pilot (or someone acting as pilot) would come along for the ride to be taunted and/or flashed. for base jumpers or balloon jumps, the cart could be stopped at the peak. all we need now is financing!"Jumping out of planes for the thrill of it all."-J.Geils Band

3fLiEr 0 #24 February 11, 2002 if we all start importing / exporting some fine china white we could build up enough cash by selling smack to kids... just think no more corporate wankers to work for - you can just buy and sell and put the profits into skydiving - who says drugs are all bad!!!.......you see smack can do some good too......... ;op ............ shoot em up kids...........insane with a needle in my vein................bsbd"In a world where we are slaves to gravity I am pleased to be a freedom fighter"
