I can't verify the accuracy of this, I recieved it in the mail but thought it was interesting!
What a difference 14 Years Makes
Anyone remember this?? It was 1987!
At a lecture the other day they played an old
news video of Lt. Col. Oliver North testifying at the
Iran-Contra hearings during the Reagan Administration.
There was Ollie in front of God and country getting
the third degree, but what he said was stunning!
He was being drilled by some senator; "Did you not
recently spend close to $60,000 for a home security
system?"
Ollie replied, "Yes, I did, Sir."
The senator continued, trying to get a laugh out of
the audience," Isn't that just a little excessive?"
"No, sir," continued Ollie.
"No? And why not?" the senator asked.
"Because the lives of my family and I were
threatened, sir"
"Threatened? By whom?" the senator questioned.
"By a terrorist, sir" Ollie answered.
"Terrorist? What terrorist could possibly scare you
that much?"
"His name is Osama bin Laden, sir" Ollie replied.
At this point the senator tried to repeat the name,
but couldn't pronounce it, which most people back then
probably couldn't. A couple of people laughed at the
attempt. Then the senator continued. "Why are you so
afraid of this man?"
"Because, sir, he is the most evil person alive that
I know of," Ollie answered.
"And what do you recommend we do about him?" asked the
senator.
"Well, sir, if it was up to me, I would recommend
that an assassin team be formed to eliminate him and
his men from the face of the earth."
The senator disagreed with this approach, and that
was all that was shown of the clip.
(If anyone is interested, the senator was none other
than Al Gore.)

Not to burst anyone's bubble or anything, but i happen to know quite a lot about this...
As per longstanding US Policy, we paid for Osama Bin F**khead to train his people in order to help us defeat the "evil soviet empire" in Afghanistan. We trained, funded and equipped the same people that caused the tremendous losses of September 11. As I said, a longstanding policy of ours...we have consistently bet on the wrong guy and have ended up creating dictators and terrorists.
Kind of like buying a pit bull....they are actually quite harmless, until you train them to fight...then they end up turning on their masters. Now, I'm all for a good war every now and then, but DAMN! Do we really need to create the scenarios ourselves?? well, that's my rant... or $ .02 if you will.

Well...he's just the most recent. Let me see. Ho Chi Minh, Pol Pot, A host of folks in the middle east, A plethora of folks on the African continent. The list is long. The catch is due to the basic Russian mentallity, proven through the ages (often called the Peasant Mentallity, relating to Peasant Justice, etc), the Communism that they implemented wasn't really communisim...it was a nice little messed up version that they called their own. Anyways, if it was done correctly according to theory, socialism would have evolved out of a capitalist state. They never had one. No, don't try to argue that the 6 months between revolutions was capitalism and it evolved from that, that's the biggest load of bullshit made up by the SRs to help them justify themselves...
SO, the point is that the Cold War wasn't necissarily "silly" since Russia was bent on what was basically world domination, trying to expand outward and we (the US) was the other biggest kid on the block, just about the only ones that *could* keep them at bay.

AggieDave thats greed lol my point was more alone the point that ppl hated eachother so much wheres they where both after the same thing but using a different system a true democracy wouldnt care that much about paying for the poor if it means they cant afford to do something for the majority instead we are stuck with idea that we deserve everthing others have. all the time i here ppl here complaining about the rich asians that come here and take our jobs, the asians in questions are two income familys with both working 70-80 hours a week yet someone not prepard to do that complains and expect the same. ill have a look later but i think its over half of australias budget is welfare, which is bullshit if i played my cards right i could be on about $300 or more a week for sitting on my arse instead im making $40 a fornight from a shitty boss. im not rich i wish someone would give me money but i dont see why the government should be responsible for me living the high life im young and healthy the money coud be spent on alot better things. i dont think we should go to the cave man days where it is strongest survise but they gov should only give ppl enough to live if ppl can drive nice cars go surfing and get pissed every night they are getting to much

Age old dillema guys. And their is not real way to solve it. Open-minded is fine. But if you want to have a group, you have to have rules at one level or another. Believing everyone can just leave each other alone is more idealistic that communism working. The best way I have heard it put comes from my Dad, and from someone older that told him when he was my age. "The more people there are, the more regulated things will become." That simple, you can explain it if you want, but it is true either way. The more the population of a particular set of people grows, rules increase or anarchy increases, one or the other.
