peregrinerose 0 #26 March 21, 2007 Ryan, you keep right on being lazy... like Chad says, it keeps us in the sky Besides, aren't Chad, Kyle, and I the most conscientous packers you've ever met? We like to make sure you have a good canopy over your head for your next CRW attempts. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

Floats18 0 #28 March 22, 2007 Everyone knows that Ryan Turner is one hell of a canopy pilot, Jenn... Why would you slander him on a public forum? Why would you do that why? ... --- and give them wings so they may fly free forever DiverDriver in Training
EddieJ710 0 #29 March 22, 2007 it comes down to this...you pay a packer..you take your chances. if one of us...yes i am a packer..does something youre not comfortable with, let us know, choose another packer, or pack it yourself, but if that rig goes on your back and you get on that plane....its on you. as said in the SIM...the jumper is ultimately responsible for his or her safety on a skydive...that begins with the packjob..... and with that.... IMHO, its always a good idea to follow the manufacturer's recommendations when closing a rig. just leaves little room for any questions to be asked.... tbrown 26 #30 March 25, 2007 If you don't do it yourself, you have no else to blame if it comes back to bite you. Sure the packers should do it. It would be nice if we could all piss jet fuel too. But this is the real world. Time was when anyone who suggested paying someone to do their packing for them would've been beaten about the head & shoulders and run off the dropzone. But we've grown accustomed to a "service economy" and our reward for this is a generation of jumpers who barely know how to pack at all. They don't understand their equipment and then they blame "the help" when something goes wrong. Real men - and this goes for the ladies as well - do their own packing. hookitt 1 #32 March 27, 2007 QuoteSome packers care about what they're doing and some want five dollars. My lazy friend convinced me to pack his canopy this weekend. After it was finished, I threatened to unpack it if he didn't give me my five dollars. He said... "It's six dollars" Now seriously, I just wanted my five bucks and he put up an attitude by handing over six.My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... pirana 0 #33 March 27, 2007 QuoteSome packers care about what they're doing and some want five dollars. I make more at my real job than I ever will packing... your comfort, trust and safety are more important to me than five dollars. Pick your packer like you pick a surgeon... you're not going to let someone you don't trust poke you with a scalpel so don't let someone you don't trust hang your ass from some strings and a rag. Pick someone who knows the gear. Pick someone who might actually care to drink a beer with you later. If you don't like it you can pack for yourself. Its not that bad. I've made 13 jumps in a day packing for myself. Or get Jenn or I to pack for you 'cuz we give a shit. or just shut the hell up. Good post, and I drink with whoever packs my chute as readily as I drink with whoever will jump with me. Hell, I'll drink with people who won't jump with me. Come to think of it, I'll drink with darn near anybody, including my surgeon. And with all thge money he's made off me, he'd better be buying. No surgery after drinking though." . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
SpecialKaye 0 #34 April 3, 2007 And those "packers" have the attitude that they have a right to be packing. The DZO's/DZM's post ads for "packers" which just encourages the attitude as well. The FAR changed a few years back to state specifically that anyone not certificated must be directly supervised by a certificated rigger.
