Totally Insane AirAnn idea

Recommended Posts

Damn you Ann!! You had to go and throw in a picture of a black and white Dane, now didn't you!!
I just happen to be homeless at the moment (by choice), and can't have any pets, but do you think if a black and white Dane just happened to show up on a particular piece of large property, owned by a person who's already been adopted by two stray dogs, and I just happen to fall in love with it and adore it and sweet talk the person into keeping it for a while (batting eye lashes) . . . (me thinks I just committed an Eng. 101 crime)
See what you've started? O.K., who's got a van big enough to hold a Dane??

>I believe I would wind up with a medal instead of a fine.
Just a warning. I used to work at the Long Marine Mammal Research Center, and we had drills over how to handle people breaking in to "rescue" the animals. They would do things like cut the power (easy to do, we were in the middle of nowhere on the coast in Santa Cruz) puncture the gas tanks of the generators and go in under cover of darkness. Well, the pumps that keep the water circulating in the tanks need power, so Long ended up with some pretty sick animals by the time the power mess was fixed. In one case, they got a dolphin halfway to the parking lot - and dropped him. It did not occur to them that dolphins are a) very heavy, b) slippery and c) don't do well when you drop them. Or perhaps they did, but felt that his freedom was more important than the risk of killing him. The dolphin required surgery but survived.
Moral of the story - if you are going to do something like this, be very sure the animals aren't harmed by their capture. Stuffing a bunch of sick animals in a pillowcase may be expedient, but may not be very good for them especially if they are sick to begin with. It would be one thing to rescue the animals and get caught - it would be quite another to go on trial for killing a few of them.

Ann,
Not to be a total cynical ass, but don't we have more important things to worry about? Yeah, pets are cute and all, but couldn't this sort of major effort and emotion go into saving people that are abused, starved, etc.? Note that I'm certainly not defending the breeder, but just questioning the focus of effort.
Not trying to start a flame war....

Then don't, hun. Ya know, anything that ends in : "not trying to start a flame war" probably doesn't need to be said. Take it from someone who has a bad tendency towards saying whatever pops into her head. Some things are just hurtful and unnecessary.
Everyone has a 'cause' that touches them for whatever reason. Mine happens to also be animals and children, those least able to help themselves, but without everyone having their own particular ideas on whom they want to help, then only one group of people/animals/whatever would receive EVERYONE'S assistance and other areas would be neglected. I'm sure there are people on here who believe other areas should be addressed and are more important then just these two also...It's a GOOD thing :) We all work together :)
Animals do more then some realize, from helping blind and other handicapped to making a child smile who is suffering from leukemia. Even just giving any of us a 'kiss' when we're down. They never ask for anything in return except a little attention and nourishment. It takes a lot to lose their love and loyalty. A bit more then just sitting around being 'cute' (which is more then I can say for some men I've known :)And Ann...I would of course help out :)

It is taking every bit of will power I have to stay away from making a joke about this. :D
>>>cool, you beat me to it!<<<
Seriously, I really do support the idea of protecting those who can't protect themselves though.

And, I never heard of how taking in a homeless guy will help you live a longer life.
Justin, BTW, most of the homeless are that way by choice. You feeding them actually just coddles laziness, therefore legitimizing their uselessness. I say let mother nature weed out the weak to leave more room for the strong.
If I ever loose my job, house, car and life I am coming up to your house. We'll see about your convictions then...

None of the organizations contacted will touch this breeder. I will... I will not only touch her I will choak her and give here a really big black eye. Knock her unconcious and remove the animals to my care.

Uh, has anyone considered maybe contacting the local news station? It seems to me that they live for things like this. Besides the immediate benefit of embarrassing the breeder, the added publicity will/should get the attention of the AKC, the Humane Society, and maybe even the local authorities.
Seems like a simple phone call could accomplish a lot here. But, maybe that's been mentioned and I missed it...

There is fundementally something wrong with people who dont like animals.
And saving humans is indeed a worthy cause. But it is not my forte. Your cause is way more worthy than mine. Saving the humans is a better cause than saving puppies and is way more glamorus and you get more karma points. I will give you that.
All I am saying is that this one is my thing. I did not pick it - it picked me when I was a super little kid.
And by the way- I think you are a total Super Sized Goof Ball, thats my opinion and I could be wrong - but if you need saving let me know I will help you cause I love everyone even Goof Balls. hehe

Have you seen my Dane? He is a boston as well. But I am wanting Josie who is now 10 months old. hehe I am so bad.
I just love animals and I cant get enuff of them. They love me to death and Cyber made homemade dog biskits with a bone shaped cookie cutter the other morning and they didnt taste too good. I know cause I got up late (1/2 alseep) and saw the dough and it looked like oatmeal cookie dough - well it wasnt. So now that I have taste tested it - It definately needs beef broth instead of water.

OK, now you guys have done it! Ahem, we all have those things we are passionate about. If you don't have any, well then, thats OK for you. There is a so much to be said for those people who do for others, NOT to see what they can get out of it, but purely for helping those less fortunate. To be able to truly give, no strings attached, and expect nothing in return, is an extremely admirable trait (in my eyes at least). That having been said, those people who devote their, time, energy, and money to the animals are some of the most generous people I know.
To clarify some things for those of you who don't know any better:
This woman Ann speaks of is not a "breeder" she Is a "puppy mill" - Someone who is breeding animals purely for monetary gain. These animals are bred and raised in deplorable conditions (many third world countries are better off). Imagine conditions such as no adequate food and water supply, moving around on weeks of packed feces, stepping on the skeletons of their siblings, maggot infested, and this is just the tip of the iceberg! I have with my very own eyes, on times too numerous to count, seen this and much worse. Some, even from the very places/people that profess to "save" the animals! Many of the animas never even make it long enough to be weaned. A litter of puppies averages 8 pups (but I have seen as many as 14), multiplied by the 3 heat cycles a year a dog goes through (some even falsely induce heat to breed more often), you can see the amount of innocent creatures that are involved. That is probably what pangs the most, the innocence of the victims. The puppy mills continue to rack in the $$ while the dogs are bred to death - literally. I know many of you really couldn't care less, but please do not demean those who do care. I am sure Ann's initial plan for the fate of the puppies was out of deep concern for those lil guys, and from the desperation of inadequate cruelty laws/intervention. I know if I was one of the pups, I would sure want her on my side!
Before I step down from the soap box, there is a story I heard many years ago that seems appropriate to share:
A little girl was walking down the beach one eve as the tide was going out leaving thousands upon thousands of stranded starfish. A man watched as the little girl picked up a starfish and flung it far out into the surf. She walked along and stopped, picked up the next one and did the same. "Little girl, what are you doing" said the man. "I am putting them pack into the ocean, for if they are left here, they shall die" she replied. "Silly girl, there are too many, you can't possibly make a difference" he said condescendingly. She looked down, picked up another one, looked the man in the eye and said "it makes a difference to THIS one" and returned it to the ocean.
"Never doubt that a group of comminted individuals can change the world, indeed, it is the only thing that ever has"

I volunteer and give $ to shelters for abused women. I grew up in an extremely violent home. The thing is this... I give time and $ where I feel best about it... that leaves tons of more places that need our kindness as well... I admire people that find room in their hearts and homes four animals. We all do have something that means much to us...

Ah you read a T shirt. Goodie for you. Books are good too just alot longer than a T shirt quote. You should try one sometime, I suggest How to Win Friends .... by Dale Carnagie.

You dont need our subsidizing, if I remember your statement... You buy and sell people like us every day.
I believe that fundementally people do not change much. The core of a person remains. They can camoflage it and cover it up and 'act' different but the lepoards spots remain.
I believe you are exactly the same as you were before. You dont fool me. ... and while I am getting stuff off my chest - stay off my threads and outta my way. I think you have bragged to enuff people about your corvette, your high profile job on an oilrig, your income, your alledged head down skills that were reported to me as merely back flying and a ton of other crap. I for one am totally gaging. Get over yourself. I dont believe that you are better than anyone else in here even though you often pretend like you are.
And if my friends are wondering why I have not been at Skydive Houston, its because you are periodically there and at the moment I dont trust myself from knocking your block off. I have nothing nice to say to you what so ever. And mainly because you threatened me with "secret high school information" about my past. Well unfortunately the rich girls always get bad raps deserved or not. And they never have any friends because the popular crowd believes all the crap.
Now its true, I did get drunk and ran my car off the road trying to get numb and stop thinking about and reliving being raped by 3 or those popular crowd guys. Thats about it Richard. I dont need you to threaten me with that I know where you come from shyt. And if you want to hear all the juicy details about the 3 guys who did it come on down to the Houston Area Womens center where I volunteer to talk to rape survivors. Oh no.... I guess I have another cause, besides animals and AirAnn.com, self eteem for women who have been raped.
Now I think that clears up some very personal information about me. And I believe that Richard is now defused and can no longer hold that over my head. Im sure he heard a different version of the story but the real story is really simple. Anytime you want you can find me at the Womens Center helping others get thru it.
Now I feel better. -Any questions?-

your rambling sycotic rhetoric is just that, rhetoric. it's meaningless to me. as far as your hearing reports of me "backflying" i give a fuck? RIGHT. as far as what i've heard about your past, i believe you left out a few details, but don't get me wrong, i could care less, it doesn't affect my income one bit. and don't blame me for your not coming to sky dive houston, i haven't been there my self for over two months, your really observant, i'll give you that. don't forget to take your allotted amount/dosage of prozac, or whatever. attack me all you want, i could give a fuck. and the truth is i can buy and sell a lot of folks a lot of times. i've been blessed with a wonderful profession that i naturally excell at. and yes my brand new corvette is kewel, my fifth one over the years. and i love my 2002 chevrolet avalance, and my 135 acre ranch, should i keep going? oh currently i'm building two quarter mile F body cars, a 67 mercury cougar, and a 69 mercury cougar. i make no apologies for my income, i work for everything i get, no one has ever gave me anything, although i understand your parents owned an insurance company, mine were farmers, so i inherited nothing, and made my own fortune, you? get over it.
