skybytch 273 #1 January 15, 2002 I know I told you all before about my motorcycle... I bought it a while back, a 1980 Yamaha DT250 enduro that was really clean, stole it for only $300. My back was still pretty bad off when I bought it so I only got to ride it for about 25 minutes in 9 months or so. Made the mistake of letting my son ride it; within two days of my buying it he'd flipped it over and busted the rear fender, then later on some asshole on a quad ran into him and finished it off.Well, not really finished it off, but it needed some work and I was pissed! Told the kid it was now his and he owed me the $300 I'd paid for it. He was cool with that. He put some work into it but it still wasn't ridable (bent handlebars and front forks, needed new brake and clutch levers, etc). Today he traded with a neighbor for a 1980 Suzuki RM125. Needs a new carb but runs okay as is; will need a new rear tire in the near future. Looks kinda rough, but it's a dirt bike so that's okay. Just wondering if anyone out there knows what one of these might be worth?? I'm thinkin' he made a pretty good trade considering what we had into the Yamaha.pull and flare,lisa--
Ducky 0 #2 January 15, 2002 To be honest, not sure about being worth what ya had into the original purchase, ($300) but probably a good deal considering what you had to trade. If the bike you got, the RM125, runs,is safe and fun to ride and last more than a month it is probably worth $300.I was a bike junkie growing up, Bmx, dirt bikes and crotch rockets later in life, I made countless trades and deals. Dirt bikes are alot of fun provided you have decent space to ride them and I'd say a month worth of riding is definately worth $300. So hopefully you get that and more out of it. Heck i could ride a dirt bike at age 5 but could not ride a bicycle til I was almost 10!Anyways hope that helps.Kwak
TheMarshMan1 0 #3 January 15, 2002 I wouldnt say its too bad of a deal. I've never owned one quite that old, but I'll ask some friends tomorrow. I used to race motocross before I got into flying and skydiving. Skydiving is waaaaaay more fun!!!
