Zennie 0 #1 January 8, 2002 Just learned that Dave Thomas (the founder of Wendy's) died. What a major bummer. "Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."
AggieDave 6 #2 January 8, 2002 I saw that too. None of the news organizations I checked (all the big guys, includine AP and Reuters) had the cause of death. Anyone know?Success is how high you bounce when you hit bottom.-General George Patton-

Zennie 0 #4 January 8, 2002 QuoteHeart Attack i guess.....or Ol age maybe....He wasn't that old, only 69.He did have quadruple bypass surgery a few years back and a blurb on MSNBC said he had been on kidney dialysis since December. So my guess is renal failure."Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."

skreamer 1 #8 January 8, 2002 Why is it sad when a super rich 69 year old founder of a fast food franchise dies?OK, so I never saw any of this guy's commercials, but I still don't get it - you guys are weird man!
Zennie 0 #9 January 8, 2002 QuoteWhy is it sad when a super rich 69 year old founder of a fast food franchise dies?Because he was one of the few corporate execs that I actually admired. He was adopted as a child and heavily involved in adoption charities. He never seemed to take himself too seriously and made it to where he was with only a high school diploma. I've seen a few interviews and he always struck me as humble and good natured. Definitely a breath of fresh air from the narcissistic, overpaid Harvard MBA brats that seem to permeate todays' corporate America. About all they know how to do is "restructure" (i.e. lay off the unwashed heathens) and give themselves multimillion dollar bonuses."Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense." flyhi 24 #10 January 8, 2002 Who's with me on having a big bowl of Wendy's chili and a couple of Heineken's Friday night so we can properly salute the passing of two giants this week...and probably Saturday morning at altitude. jfields 0 #11 January 8, 2002 Sounds like a good idea, but there should be a cap on how many "participants" are allowed on a given load. Otherwise, things could get out of hand and people could suffocate. JustinMy Homepage

Zennie 0 #16 January 8, 2002 Quoteanyway, he sold junk food that is poisoning an entire generation of fast food junkies..Man, and I though I was cynical. Actually, after Dave had his big quadruple bypass (wonder why he needed that ), Wendy's started to push "healthier" (relatively speaking) menu items... salads, spuds, grilled instead of fried chicken. Pretty successful too. I know a lot of people who live on their grilled chicken ceasar salads."Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense." algboy 0 #18 January 8, 2002 Speaking of that Ronald MacDonald clown, they've been collecting money for his "house" for years now. Just how big of a house does that clown NEED anyway?? [I admit it, I ripped off someone's bit]Dave T did die of liver cancer. One press report described him as "slightly overweight". Hello? freeflir29 0 #19 January 8, 2002 "slightly overweight"Ummm....I think they were trying to be kind to the recently deceased. It's a much kinder headline than "Fat bastard dies at age 69" "I got some beers....Let's Drink em!!!"Clay
