dove 0 #1 January 8, 2002 Wow ! I was just whining on Cyberskydive's post about also looking for work and all of a sudden.....I got an offer to go work at the Olympics in Salt Lake for a month! Holy #%@@! How lucky is that?!?!?! For someone in my profession (TV graphics for live sporting events) that is the stuff! Wow! Unfortunately it means I won't be able to jump at all in February (Wahhhhhhhhh!!!) and then there is March Madness so hardly any jumps there.... but April here I come! Yippee!!!!! And this coming weekend is the first one I've had off in 4 months (since the beginning of the NFL season - well except the weekend after Sept. 11th, but that didn't feel like a vacation). I'll have to jump my tiny hiney off to make up for lost jumps ahead of time. I hope I'll be able to play on dz.com from Salt Lake or I'll really suffer hard from the altitude withdrawal!dove

AggieDave 6 #3 January 8, 2002 Sounds like a hell of a time and all except the no jumping part. And with the FAA flight bans that are supposed to be in effect over that area during the Olympics, I don't think you'll beable to jump even if the time presented its self.I went to a Grateful Dead Concert and they played for SEVEN hours. Great song. -- Fred Reuss
Pammi 0 #4 January 8, 2002 Woohoo! Good for you! I hope Merrick gets so lucky as some of you soon! C'mon computer geeks/skydivers...hook us up! :) Surely someone needs an analyst/programmer out there! :)Hey Dove, aren't you in Parachutist somewhere?? Got mine today finally and was looking for a hint of you...?Closing pin jewelry
dove 0 #5 January 8, 2002 Yeah - I thought of finding a dz but I will have not one single day off from January 29 to February 26. Good thing - I didn't even think about the ban. A day off would be brutal on the ground!
dove 0 #6 January 8, 2002 Pammi,Yeah - I am in there. I think on page 71 or 61... in the lake wales ad. That's my chiclet grin on the inflatable guiness chair. Hey - why's your mag so late! And by the way, since I seem to be rambling... I had just decided to get a necklace, though I can't afford it and you are quitting. I am SO jealous of snowflake's necklace! I love blue... Guess I'll have to learn to weave em myself... yeah, like that'll ever happen! But good for you keeping your priorities. Happiness is key and family time too. Cheers!dove
AggieDave 6 #7 January 8, 2002 Pammi--to continue what was just being said by Dove, if you decided to come out of retirement, I could really use a cool necklace...(I know I know, I should have done this a long time ago, like when I saw you at Spaceland...)I went to a Grateful Dead Concert and they played for SEVEN hours. Great song. -- Fred Reuss
Pammi 0 #8 January 8, 2002 Hey guys, not retiring! Everyone convinced me not to let one 'bad egg' change my mind about what I enjoy..doing these for some great people! I found you Dove! Iflyme 0 #13 January 8, 2002 Hey, Dove, that's awesome! You're gonna be workin' hard, but having a blast! A few of the people at my station worked on the national coverage of the Olympics in Barcelona, and loved it! I guess skydiving will have to take a back seat for a while, but the Olympics will be an experience you'll remember for the rest of your years! Have fun! lazerq3 0 #20 January 8, 2002 Way to go Dove.....But if you look for an open DZ out here you'll have to go to St. George which is about 5 hours away. Ogden skydive (which is closed for the winter), Skydive SLC, and Skydive Utah will all be shut down those two weeks for security reasons. There basically shutting down the whole air space in northern utah. But sounds like you'll be too busy anyways!!! Make us look.....half way decent!!jason
dove 0 #21 January 8, 2002 I won't know all the particulars til I get there but I am assuming it will be super hard to get anyone into anything considering all the info and security stuff I have to go through. But we'll definitely have to meet! dove
lazerq3 0 #22 January 8, 2002 Yeah ...if ya get a little free time just let me know.... I'd love to throw back a couple with ya!!!!jason
lummy 4 #23 January 8, 2002 Uh...... Terri, you just aren't the criminal type are you? The whole FUN of crashing the party is "going over the wall" :) Just wouldn't be half the fun if we just STROLLED in like all the rest of them Sheesh.....So St. George is the closest palce to jump? Hmmmmm I have a friend in St George hehehe..........
mnischalke 0 #24 January 8, 2002 You may be totally joking, but be careful what positions you ask people to put themselves in.Oh yeah, and go out there to run around all squirrelly. Maybe even make mention of sarin or say "I wonder if this weaponized ebola is gonna do what we thought???" Then write me from prison.Do not screw with those people this year. I was gonna go out and cover the Biathlon for my magazine and I decided against it because of the new levels of security. I am used to breaching a few barricades in the name of the story, but not like what I hear is about to go on. peace, mikeBlack then white are all I see, in my infancy... lummy 4 #25 January 9, 2002 Well I don't know about Terri ;)but it's just a joke.I know exactly what you are saying and while I may jest about it here, in real life it's no joking matter. To put in perspective, I've had the opportunity to travel to Europe on business and at the time there was quite a bit of bombings going on and had opportunities to be interrogated over an external HD. Last thing anyone wanted to do was crack a joke while going thru customs. NO JOKING MATTER
