ummmmm- remote assistance pleze?

Recommended Posts

Are you doing a Re-direct? When I ping your domain name, I get this IP address 216.248.194.3, then it pops up with this Domain name http://www.wsmdomains.com/. I also noticed during the request for your site it tried to goto cyber.sunraydesigns.com. I would check with your ISP to make sure your DNS is pointing to the right location.

Its not cache and all DNS is correct. I just cant figure out why remote connections outswide of the local network are not being accepted, no firewall errors, and not even making it to the apache logs.
if ya'll wanna try another addy try:
This one
will just have to dig some more ;)
Does anyone know about dhcp?
my ISP uses dchp to automatically assign IP's
but.....my ip never changes unless there is a problem or I change it by releasing it. But will the dns server recognize requests to my ip?

What the problem is, is that the global DNS servers have not updated yet. After replication takes place on your local server, it has to update every primary DNS server global (7 or 8) then from the primary it has to go to the Secondary servers (a couple of hundred), then it has to update every ISP DNS server. This process can take up to 36-48 hours to hit every server.
As for the DHCP, its not an issue unless you change IP's then you have to update the DNS again and wait another 24-48 hours for the majority of the servers to update. If you are tring to run a server on Broadband home connections, beware, you are almost certianly violation their service contract and they can terminate your service with no warning and no hope of ever getting it turned back on. Roadrunner, and most DSL companies do sweeps of their network to detect these servers. I got caught running one when I was a tester for Roadrunner and got a really nasty call asking me to turn it off. Just an FYI.......

despite whatever dns issues may be going on, the server isn't responding to ping nor to http requests made directly to the ip address you posted. short of running a port scan from the outside, i'd surmise your firewall is blocking (port filtering?) such access... maybe worth while to double-check the config.

Nope, not dns, not firewall (allthough that may be whats causing no response now), because unless you type in the ip you wont get my local server anymore. I posted all this before but deleted it trying to delete this thread.
I believe its an ISP controlled DHCP (Dynamic Host Control Protocol) issue controlled by my isp to restrict such activities from thier residential customers. At no time did anyones request ever show in my log files except those requests made from inside the local network (e.g-mine and airanns computer) which had no problem connecting at all. All remote connections were blocked, with no eveidence on my end, I couldnt even connect to mysql remotely.
was just a test run as sometime in the near future (hopefully?) I will need such services ;)
thanks for everyones help, the issue is closed I guess. Cyberskydive.com is up, kinda, test run type thing, prolly should delete this now ;)
