LittleJumper 0 #1 December 17, 2001 I wanted sooooo desperately to jump today! the damn clouds were out and the plane couldn't go any higher than 4k. I'm not cleared yet from AFF, only needed one jump to do that! Shit! Blame it on the weather!! Oh well, i hung out, watched a couple vid's, and participated in a game with the other hop -n- hoppers...was a cool (COLD) day all in all...Anything I can do to keep involved, no matter what the weather...it helps stay motivated and focused when you can't jump!!What you "think" you cannot do ...you CAN if you "think" about it
FallnAngel 0 #2 December 17, 2001 Terri, you really have a great attitude!! Sorry to hear you did not get to jump...it will happen soon, though! Many times last winter, we sat around the dz waiting for the skies to clear, watching videos, talking with Neal, Dan Sommers, & everyone else...good times even without jumping Steve & I will be heading out this weekend, blue skies or not, so hope to see you then.Blue clear skies,Karen
lummy 4 #3 December 17, 2001 Karen,I'm trying to explain to Teri the difference between sitting at another stuffy Xmas party on Wed and calling in sick and trying out the Otter that will be there Wed.N I get to land at the AirPort now!!!! flyhi 24 #4 December 17, 2001 Quotethe damn clouds were out and the plane couldn't go any higher than 4kThat happened a lot this weekend. We had a fresh-off-AFF-status jumper back out of hop and pop when he looked out the door. He didn't realize how low he was going to have to get out. If you haven't jumped static line, it can be scary. I made one at about 2200 ft. I tasted adrenalin on exit again. Not asking for a steady diet of that, but every once and a while it is fun...or at least different. Hang in there.flyhi
JMC 0 #5 December 17, 2001 You might wnat to try going to Byron. It's closer to where you live and while I didn't make it out there sunday, I was in the area and the weather was OK.
lummy 4 #6 December 18, 2001 She can't travel yet, LittleJumper is still on AFF. There were some guys up from Byron too so I'm sure they were socked in as well.
FallnAngel 0 #7 December 18, 2001 Did someone say "Otter"??? *cough* *cough* I think my head is feeling stuffy on Wednesday So you have graduated from barnie status, huh, lummy? Well, good for you!! I didn't land at the airport until jump #99 or something like that...and I was still the first in my group to land there! We were barnies forever (and took alot of teasing because of it, too)!! The airport turned out to be only half as scary as I thought it would be, and it's really nice not to have to wait for the bus to drive you back. You've probably already heard this, but...land out in the dry, brown grass area. Everyone heads for the peas so you end up having the rest of the area to yourself for accuracy practice if you land further out to the east.See ya soon!Blue clear skies,Karen
lummy 4 #8 December 18, 2001 Yeah, I officially graduated on my 50th jump. I think they just didn't want to drive all the way to the Barn :)No seriously, we were doing hop n pops and trying to bomb a target with flower bags. The first jump, I couldn't even get the damend bag out from my jumpsuit and my new altimeter was saying I was at 0 right when I was starting my crosswind so it threw me off.And Yeah, I kinda figured to just stay out in the Brown spots n keep outta everyone's way :)
LittleJumper 0 #9 December 18, 2001 " made one at about 2200 ft. I tasted adrenalin on exit again"Damn! Now THAT would be scary, for almost anyone! I KNOW i'm not ready for hop n pop yet, so I can understand how the newly off AFF person must have felt. I was definately ready to jump at 13k though...Had my mind set & wanted to "just get out"What you "think" you cannot do ...you CAN if you "think" about it
LittleJumper 0 #10 December 18, 2001 Gary my dear..this is not your average stuffy Christmas lunch. ; ) I would definately ditch that to go jumping!! : ) This is a more close knit bunch of people, kinda like family...post-office fire group. But I'm gonna try to do whatever possible to get up there before they close down for Christmas! What you "think" you cannot do ...you CAN if you "think" about it
lummy 4 #11 December 18, 2001 Oh POPPY COCK!!!Jumping at 3500 is the same as 13500, just take out the 55 seconds of freefall :)As for the Xm,as party, what is REALLY more important here? Some people you haven't seen in quite a while that almost feel like family? Or jumping out of an Otter?Like DUh....... :)
