indyz 1 #30 December 13, 2001 I see what might be a hatch over the cockpit. Of course, that would put them in front of the props...--Brian"The sky is lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep,And miles to go before I pull"
lummy 4 #31 December 13, 2001 Yeah, I see that. And it DOES look like the props are feathered. IT's just a helluva long way back to the tail from the back of a Skyvan..... I don't remember seeing any bars inside besides the one right at the end (and there's supposedly one underneath...Maybe around the side?
mountainman 0 #32 December 13, 2001 If you punch in the website http://www.freefly.com, you can see some more pics of these guys being on the top of the plane, exiting the plane while the plane is inverted, and then there is a video there with them on the top. I think that there handles on the top and they are there on take-off. Hell, it's Europe, there are no rules! -------------JumpinDuo.com...news, guestbook, and links. lummy 4 #34 December 13, 2001 NOPE, Brian wins....If you go under photos and click on Ponk Skyvan in Tunisia, you'll see them climbing from the hatch up by the pilot. I do think the negines are shut down tho, hell I wouldn't want to be crawling in between two turbines
airann 1 #35 December 13, 2001 Regarding Paint Jobs:My friend has a canopy (1st he is crazy) and he got all the girls once to paint their butts (I wasnt there) and sit on the top skin - of his canopy so when he is doing the absolutely fabulous stall turn he does at about 250 feet you can see it from above. Ass prints! ok? Ass prints!!Then the Waller Otter is great ...-See Attachment.http://www.AirAnn.comSports don't build character.... they reveal it. -unknown
homer 0 #36 December 13, 2001 The first plane I fell from was a C130 at 1250ft. The best jump would have to have been from a C5 at 800ft and the craziest was in AZ with winds at 19 nots on the ground. 21 to the hospital 11 by ambulance and 2 medevac. Nobody died so it was still a good jump. To top it all off I was jumping rounds, but none of them had a cool paint job. My vote goes to pink. GOD BLESS THE AIRBORNE!!!!!!Beware of the toes you step on today, for they may belong to the ASS you kiss tomorrow.
NtheSeaOrSky 0 #37 December 14, 2001 As of about two weeks ago the Franken Otter was still the same .... I saw it with my very own eyes! I hear it is at Lake Wales right now, maybe someone from there could update us.
hughbetcha 0 #38 December 14, 2001 wow, that is great i was wondering how they got on top of the plane, the video is excellent of that exit and i love the exit outta the back of the skyvan while the skyvan is inverted!mark
Meatbomber 0 #39 December 14, 2001 Regarding how to get on-top:above the coplitos seat is the so caled ditchig hatch, you get out there, there's a rope all the way back to a handle behind the humpThe right engine (the one you're closest is shut down and feathered. Now where#s a pic of that franken otter ?? :)
freeflir29 0 #40 December 14, 2001 http://www.freefalladventures.com/main_exp.htmlIt's the plane on the right. The otter on the left is actually at SD Atlanta right now. It's a dog.........LOL"and I'm not easily impressed...Ooohh look...a blue car!" -Homer Simpson
mountainman 0 #41 December 14, 2001 you need to click "facilities" and then "planes" (at the bottom) to view Clay's link. Since it is in frames (BARF), you need to do that cuz the actual URL doens't show.-------------JumpinDuo.com...news, guestbook, and links.
flyhi 24 #42 December 14, 2001 You did say gunship, didn't you? Could be a jump ship. I think the MI-24 Hind could carry nine(?) pax. Without all that armor and bullets, probably more. flyhi
freeflir29 0 #43 December 14, 2001 "I think the MI-24 Hind could carry nine(?) pax"Just don't ask for a hover...LOL They don't do that when loaded..."and I'm not easily impressed...Ooohh look...a blue car!" -Homer Simpson

Meatbomber 0 #45 December 14, 2001 nope .. i'm just the driver (never flown one of those tho, as only the most experienced drivers here are allowed that) but what folks said is that it ain't that hard...apparantly the hump forms a lee... but freaking cold :)

flyingferret 0 #47 December 14, 2001 Okay, this settles it, I have got to jump in Europe. I have been curious about those pics since I started jumping about a year ago. And now we actually have first-hand info from a pilot. Looking at those videos, man is there anything you cannot do to exit a plane in Europe? Thoe freaking rock!! And I would not mind getting near a feathered prop for video like that. Okay, Dave when are we going? oh yeah, this thread was a bout paint jobs right? Well my plane would not really compete unless, like jfields said, you count ducktape.Malachi
