You'll love getting the tat. How does it feel? Like a group of needles going in-and-out of your skin really fast, of course.
I was careful to keep mine dry and slathered w/ Noxema for a few weeks, and it healed very well.
Be sure to go sober -- or they may not tattoo you.

For the record, I think Skymama's thoughts were pretty accurate. There are a few lines that just shouldn't be crossed just for the sake of humor. Perhaps it takes age to realize that sort of thing just isn't funny because it's not necessarily an impossibility in this day and age. Having almost lost my son as a newborn, it certainly is a touchy subject with me. However, we probably shouldn't bring a discussion that was closed by HH onto another thread. It'll just end up getting heated with the subject being what it is.
As for the tat...enjoy. It stings at first, but will go numb for the most part then you'll have something to enjoy for a lifetime. (oh no, another touchy subject on this forum...lol)

savor every moment.
I think about that feeling--like a hot razor sliding across my skin--and get goosebumps.
Get him to spend a lot of time on your shoulder or any other bony area you can ink up. The more intricate (single needle) you can get done, the better. Lasts longer and feels better.
peace,
mike

Bwahahaha.... that's not nice! ;)
To me it just felt like someone dragging a hang-nail over your skin... Over, & Over, & Over, & Over... you get the idea. Afterwards it sort of feels like a sunburn, but no worse... and if the guy slaps it & says he had to "set the ink" Knock him the fuck out, he's a lying bastard! lol Aftercare, just do whatever they tell you, and after it heals, put lotion on it every day, it will keep the color looking great for much longer. I have 4 tat's, two that are 8 & 9 years old, they still look awesome compared to my buddy who got his done at the same time!

, put lotion on it every day

Or better yet, if you're lucky and have a cutie around like Merrick does, she might do it for you.
You're braver than me, I'm still trying to talk myself into one. Just not there yet. But, my tongue is doing really good, I don't spit on people as much these days, and my lisp is hardly noticeable. :$

I've talked myself into it, I know what I want and where I want it, I just need to come up with an extra few bucks to go have it done.
I'm hoping there'll be the same rush after getting a tat I had after getting my eyebrow pierced a few years ago. That was cool. :)pull and flare,

Check out all the other posts I've made. I'm not easily offended, and I rarely jump on someone who has posted something I disagree with. The line of decency was crossed, and obviously Sangiro agreed.
Thanks, Pammi.

DO NOT SCRATCH THE TATOO. It's going to itch like hell while it heals. don't pick at the scabs or will you screw up the design, and it will look like shit. I got a dragon on my shoulder in 1975 while in Germany with the Army. The colors have faded but the outline is still very clear. I didn't put anything on it while it was healing, just rinsed it in the shower with now scrubbing.

Use Neosporin or basitrasin on it for about a week.
Get a bottle of SPF 400 or something and a q-tip when you expect to be outside in the sun. Coat that ink with the sunblock and forget it. (the q-tip is to paint around the design. It'll look stupid with a big white patch around your ink.)
peace out,
mike

You say it's on the upper arm and shoulder. No problem talk to the tatoo artist and find things to distract your attention from the job at hand. Thats what I did only felt a small ache the next day. A hint after its all over with don't itch it no matter how bad you want to do it don't itch it.

Cheers everyone for the advice, Well i got it done (so did my mate) didn't hurt just reminded me of when your at the barbers an they catch the skin with the electric razor. The worst bit was the anticipation about a mnute before it started (and did anyone else sweat like a pig in a steam room). Afterwoods it was like sunburn (only way i can describe it). Got some cream they recomended (just savalon) and ive been puttting that on regulary so it should turn out alright, scabbed quite a bit but hey. Anyone thinking about it just make sure the design and place is right and go for it. I promise you the pain is not anywhere near how bad you think its going to be (pinch yourself as hard as you can and it probably won't even hurt as much as that)

hey if it itches (and it will) slap it lightly...like patting your skin dry.
do not interfere with the healing process.
its been years since i got my tat worked on i need to get color in it (skydiving was the opportunity cost) although, i liked getting tatted i like jumping ALOT MORE!! someday ill have $$ for both.(then ill still spent it on jumping.)
Have fun, LIVE FREE, Skydive

DO NOT PUT NEOSPORIN ON A FRESH TATOO!!!!
It will scab up on you and that is NOT good. the best thing for a fresh tatoo is hemmroid cream. the cream not the ointment. another problem with any type of ointment is it will cause a break out....that is not good eather. Prep H on a tatoo will cause it to not scab up and keep the swelling and pain down too. plus like cuddler said above keep it covered till it is healed as your freshly poked dermis is very susceptable to UV and that causes the big CA and you dont want that...
OK all for now...bye bye

Funny you would ask that. I just had my third one done not too long ago and I noticed that I got really really sweaty palms during the whole process. The tatoo artist said that that is quite normal and that he has lots of people that sweat quite heavily. I wonder why that is, anybody know?

well when i got my 3 piercings and my one tattoo i also has the overwhelming sence of being really warm and started sweating..... it is just your bodies natural way to say "hey, i don't like this shit, it aint natural" and think, when you've just got jabed with a tatto needle many times or a piercing needle your body is going to react to that painwith a little adreniline..... maybe that's why i never feel cold in freefall, just when i'm flying my canopy...........

Ask Pam about the tat I got in Jamaica

And I thought I was brave because I had a goat "rhodi" in Trinidad once. Don't knock 'em if you haven't tried them...then you definitely will. Yes, alcohol was involved.

"Ask Pam about the tat I got in Jamaica"

ROFL - OK, this was a joke, a fairly popular joke (or so I thought), surprised none of you picked up on it.... I have never gotten a tattoo in Jamaica, I got all four of mine in Arkansas (not that that's much better lol).
This guy & his new wife go to Jamaica for their honeymoon, The wife decided that she wanted to do something crazy to commemorate their honeymoon and their new life together... so they both decided to go get tattoos. They decided to get each other's names tattooed in a place that nobody else would ever see, so she shaved and got "Steve" tattooed on her pussy, and he got "Wendy" tattooed on his dick. Well, it was a woman tattoo artist, so he couldn't help get erect while getting the tattoo. So now, when he's flaccid, the tattoo just says "Wy"
The next day he & his wife are having lunch in a restaurant downtown in Jamaica, and he excuses himself & goes to the restroom. He walks up to the urinal, stands next to this big Jamaican guy, and starts peeing... after a few seconds he glances down (gawd knows why he did this) & notices that the Jamaican has a "Wy" tattooed on his dick as well. He ponders for a few more seconds if he should say anything, and decides he would ask....
"Excuse me sir, I don't mean to sound queer or anything, but I noticed you have a 'Wy' on your Dick as well...."
"Yah mon!"
"I was just wondering, is your wife's name Wendy too!"
The Jamaican laughs hysterically....
"No mon, mine say 'Welcome to Jamaica, have a nice day!'" :D
