How did you start

Since I'm bored out of my skull here...
My skydiving-addiction started by jumping static line, mainly because a friend of mine got me drunk enough to say "Yeah, sure! I'll go jumping with ya!".. B|..
Great guy by the way :)Blue Skies!

Wanted some excitement in my life.
Saw a tandem skydive vidio and thought YES - THAT is what I wanna do.
So . . . . Did a level 1 AFF, and that was it, had to carry on. Went to the US to do the AFF course. The best thing I've ever done!
:)
Do miss eventing tho :(

In high school a friend of mine and i were going to do it when we got to college. I found the skydiving club here. oddly enough i knew i would want to do it more than once so i did static line. my friend ended up going about two months after i did. he did ten jumps then started getting freaked out and quit.

Always said that I'd skydive but that it was too expensive when I was at school... then I ended up going on a work term during Uni at a well paying job, so when I came back, no more excuses.... A Uni friend who was expereinced (300 jumps) organized a course at the school, about 40 people took the course.
Took me about 1 month 1/2 to do the jump due to bad weather. Did 2 IADs the same day, and then took PFF...

Pretty standard story really: Always talked about it with my mates but never actually organised anything. So a couple of summers ago I though "buggar 'em", phoned up my local DZ and booked a tandem. Then spent 9 months (it seemed much, much longer, believe me!) saving up for AFF and life's never been the same since :)And I was so lucky! I phoned up on quite short notice and there was basically only one day that I could do a tandem. Fortunately they'd had a cancellation, I sometimes wonder if I couldn't have jumped then whether I ever would have??? And how much my life would have sucked!
And my mates? Still whuffos. What a load of wimps!

I always wanted to, Flying Ferret called me, said he was going to do it, so I went with him. A year and a half later, I'm freaking hooked! Loven life. The funny part about my first jump is how hung over we all were when we showed up for class that morning. We had all been up till almost 4am drinking to the fact we were going to jump out of a f**king plane. Woke up a bit before 8 and made it to the DZ by 9...so even the first day, we fit into the skydiving crowd. ;)

I'd always thought it would be fun but I'd never have the balls to do it, so one day last year I just decided, fuck it, I'm gonna go, and that's just the way it is. So I did. Now I can't seem to stop...
Oh yeah, I did static line, because I'm a cheap bastard. I mean college student.

I did a 'charrideee' static line in 1990 - but there was not infomation or encouragement to take up the sport...
Then in March of this year, i was skiing and after a particularly excellent day, got chatting with this bird (sorry Sarah;)) And she said "I'm a skydiver" and i thought "oooooh, that sounds interesting - send me sum info"
Booked on an AFF in Spain in July this year, and like Mr 3FlieR, have been to the DZ every weekend since...
whooooooooooohooooooooo!!

How did you get into skydiving and what training system did you use?

I got started at Fort Benning. They seemed to use the push-ups method.
Jump school, and my active duty jumps were all static line. After I got out, I eventually found the time and money to get into it as a civilian, by doing AFF.

I had always wanted to skydive. Used to have dreams of flying when I was a child. I never really thought about actually doing it until a friend {Super Cool Guy} asked me one evening at the local watering hole if I wanted to go do a skydive. He said he had done one tandem a few months back and had wanted to do another one ever since. So July 14th 2001 rolled around I was so hungover from the night before I thought I was going to puke. We climbed into the Otter at Spaceland and got to altitude. I had three other friends all doing tandems at the same time. we got to the door and I watched at my bud disapeared into the sky and thought OMFG I AM JUMPING FROM A PLANE! Once we hit the ground I was so AMPED I wanted to sign up for another one that very minute. Kris and I waited 2 weeks went back and did one more tandem, then we both signed up for the AFP course. I finished but Kris hasn't passed level 4 because of home repairs. That's my story. Got 37 jumps so far counting tandems. Then a "Beer Light" incident has me grounded till mid to late Jan.
Rock on everyone!

Military....I was in the Air Force and busted my ass to get to Jump School. Went, thought it was kinda dumb but the jumping part was pretty cool. That was in 96...after jumping in the military for 4 years I just got a wild hair and went over to sign up for the FJC at the Green Beret Sport Parachute Club, Ft. Bragg, NC. That's where I met Chuck and a lot of other very cool people. Did static line out of a 182 and then 30-45 sec drills out of the Otter. Skydiving changed my life!

I always wanted to do it, so I researched it on the internet and did a tandem at Skydive Chicago. It was supposed to be a one time thing and it was for about a year. Then I saw Ann Currey (sp?) do a tandem live on the Today Show and I thought I would like to do it again so I went and did another tandem at Skydive Chicago. I figured what the heck and bought another one that day for $99. After I did the next one I just kept going and went into Skydive Chicago's AFP program. The rest is history!

i saw a 1-800-skydive sticker on a truck, and thought hmmmm. so i called, visited the DZ. did my first tandem with one of my buddies, i was hooked before i got into the plane. i finished my tandem progression, enrolled into the AFP program, ordered my rig at the same time, i haven't been the same since! first jump 10.17.2001, current jump count: 250+ that's how hooked i got, glad it wasn't some kind of drug!

i have a buddy who i introduced to the sky. i thought he would lose interset after i left but he just emailed me, hes getting his own rig. HE'S FOUND THE ADDICTION!!! he was always a little more freaked out then i thought he should be...i cant blame him though. on the day of his first jump we watched two stunt planes crash. FUKN SURREAL!

I never considered skydiving before I started. Then, in the winter of 2000, I had a little mid-life crisis about turning 35. My daughter's teacher was a skydiver, and he was telling me about his jumps one day, and I just decided to try it, with a tandem. I was going to just do one tandem. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be one of those crazy skydivers!
