The swooping thing is needed. Currently, the only swoop-specific site on the internet is the poorly maintained http://www.para-performance.com. Something that included swooping and other not-quite mainstream cool-guy skydiving, like BirdMan suit flying would be outstanding. There are a lot of pictures and good video of swoops out there, but no real repository for all that stuff.

I'm in agreement with keeping it to skydiving, but concentrating solely on a different discipline, whether it be base, swooping, crew, freeflying, rw...it's all good. If you really want me to pick another sport, I'd say scuba is what I've read on here that most people do besides skydiving and drinking beer.

Here's the problem with a base jumping web site. In most places base jumping is illegal. Law enforcement officials would be watching this site like a hawk or maybe just visiting the site pretending to be a base jumper to get leads on base jumpers. You have to be extremely careful with something like that.

How about streetluge? It has relatively little coverage right now, and is still in it's infancy (by way of media). A kickass website like this might be what it needs to get more people interested.

My understanding was that most places, BASE jumping itself is not illegal. It's just that they always try to find something else to charge you with, like trespassing, or nusance, or something along those lines.
Am I wrong about this?

There are sooo many amazing extreme sports out there to choose from. I would have to go with SCUBA too though because it seems there are TONS of skydivers/SCUBA divers out there. Tee

You're right, the act of base jumping itself is not illegal except in some national parks, but you normally have to do something illegal to do it, like trespassing. The point I was trying to make is that base jumpers as a rule try to keep a low profile. I just don't think it would be a good idea for the reasons I already stated.

I'm gonna side with Chuck on this one. If you look at DZ.com, we've got extensive safety, gear, and technique information, and if we don't already have the specific info someone is looking for, we do have regular members who can answer those types of questions. In other words, we either have what you need to know, or can hook you up with the people who do. I don't know of any site that performs the same function for swooping or otherbleading-edge activities in skydiving, and I think if HH applied his talents to the task a lot of people would benefit.

Motorcycling. From what I've seen on this site, a lot of skydivers ride - dirtbikes, street, sport,touring, whatever. Of course, looking at all the threads on dropzone.com, you could probably create a site devoted to women's breasts. It sure as hell would get a lot of traffic. So Sangiro, are you thinking about another site to create and run? At some point you'll have to quit your day job.

But ya don't see many old free or "solo" climbers,, well thats just friggin nuts with no outs,, and rock like the sky is an everchanging medium,, several quality mags have had picts of excellant climbs (multi picth long ass climbs) recently from Greenland that at the end of the climb the climbers base jumped ta get down,, now that is cool!! SO maybe we could use a department that combines other "extreme" activities with skydiving??? Now SCUBA and Spelunking, and motorcycles, that shit is dangerous I hear!!
