Balloon Jumps??

Recommended Posts

That is half of the fun of a balloon jump...you never know where you are going to land. I did one in AZ during nationals and we ended up landing in a field. The balloon has a chase truck that comes and picks it up. Our balloon came within a hundred yards of the border patrol station. It was about seven in the morning...none of us had ID and the border patrol responded with four trucks. I think that they were just really bored. If you have a chance give it a try, it's well worth the money (about sixty bucks).

Disclaimer: I've never done a balloon jump, but I did talk to a balloon pilot about jumping once.
He told me we would take off, float around until we found someplace nice to land, then get out. Not very scientific, but apparently it's worked for him in the past.

The other kicker is most ballon pilots that drop jumpers on a semi regular basis know to put the ballon into a decent as the jumpers are getting ready. Other wise when the ballon suddenly loses 300 pounds+ (2 jumpers) the ride can get bumpy as the ballon readjusts its altitude and point of balence. Granted I've never done a ballon jump, but I'm looking at doing one for a birthday present to my self :)My advice is call Burner out at Eloy and get details if the ballonist has never droped jumpers before.
I'm not sure what to put here right now.....
